Dreaming of the American Dream

"The American Dream" - The key word here is "Dream". We can only dream that gasoline was still $1.99 a gallon and our gas guzzling SUV's were still worth more than the scrap metal they produce. I actually went green myself and turned mine in for a Ford (American) hybrid which was right in tune with last year's theme. We can only dream that our home (or our neighbor's home) isn't going to go into foreclosure when we get back from BRC because we were late on a payment so that we could pay for the $400.00 in gasoline that it's going to take to get to BRC and back. And we can only dream that any of us that work for the state of California won't be coming back to an hourly wage of $6.55 (how is that possible when the state minimum wage is $1.45 an hour higher at $8.00?). All because some dude from Austria can't figure out how to come up with $15.2 Billion.
For those of you who will be coming out to BRC this year on the funds that were created from refinancing your presently worthless home (another "American Dream"), be sure to stop by one of the many recently constructed Indian Casino's on your way. Who knows.... you can throw a few dollars down in the hopes that you might recover some of your costs for this year's trip. Worst case scenario is you lose your ass. Then you might be able to secure a job as bus boy in their restaurant for $8.00 an hour, plus tips! it beats coming back to $6.55 an hour.
My Dream will be the conscious knowledge that in 5 days I will be in a place where I won't have to think about the American Dream for the next 7 days. The playa provides us that special community where we all get to live our dreams and forget about the fact that the American Dream is a clusterfuck. I'm not anti-american, I'm just pro-playa!
