We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.

We're creating an (unregistered) camp called Paradise Motel. We're using a combination of tarp, textured paper, Astroturf, signage, pink flamingoes, and EL wire to create a motel "off Route 666" -- kitchy 60's motel off of a highway, the kind of thing that's a slice of Americana. Given the "paradise" theme we were hoping to stick with trance music -- You can hear some sample sets here:

http://djstudlycaps.com/

We will be doing some daytime sets and serving sno cones from our Sno Cone machine. We will have an extra special gift for anyone that brings us a (sealed) bag of ice! We aren't sure yet where we will camp, so look for our sign!

Image

If you want to take a peek, here is our wiki:
http://djstudlycaps.com/groups/burningman/

But oh yeah, if you can't tell from the Wiki, we're a bunch of 'mos. (Pink flamingos and Trance, ya think?!?)Image

Gee. I'm feeling left out. I certainly wouldn't attend an event that advertised "Straight Event." I prefer the events that welcome everyone. How about Queer Friendly.

For what it's worth, the Bureau of Erotic Discourse (B.E.D.) playshops are friendly events for all gender, orientation, and kink combinations. For more info about us, see:

Come as you are or come as you aren't. It's your choice.

I agree. Isn't the whole Burning Man hootenanny thing a big stick in the cycloptic eye of intolerance? For christssake, it started in SF. If BRC is not all inclusive, then "all inclusive" might be unattainable to us humans right now. What do I know? I live in Oaktown. Maybe I got it all wrong.

Thanks for the online gay-bashing everyone.

It's times like this that I am reminded that society has a long ways to go, and that there is still a strong need for gay, lesbian, bi, and transgendered events in our communities.

And please keep in mind that if there are events that do not interest you, you are not required to attend. Instead of slamming those who attend to produce and share these events, why not just ignore them rather than bashing them with hate?

WTF are you talking about? There isn't any gay bashing in this thread.

Hello, long time listener, first time caller.

Looking through the listings provided by neonbunny and others, I don't see any restrictions listed as to whom might attend. I don't see "Homos Only!" in any of them. It is simply a listing of events for people with a common interest.

Are there not other listings in these very forums for "party camps", "roomy camps", and camps dedicated to different genres of music? If I make a posting asking where the steampunk-themed camps are, or were I can go to hang out with people making MVs, I don't think I'm oppressing the people who aren't into steampunk or MVs.

At none of the queer themed event's that I attended last year did I see any Sexual Preference Checkpoints restricting anyones access. Your fears of oppression are are not based in fact. If you want to come and dance and party with the queers, well come on! You're not going to find better music.

Just don't freak out when you do get cruised, or even when you don't!

I do have to say that I didn't feel that any actual "gay bashing" was going on here, mostly misunderstanding, misinterpretation, possibly a lack of awareness, but no malevolence. But please, the queers aren't massing at the borders, ready to take your children and your drugs.

Well, not your children.

....really though, save your outrage for some of the numerous very real threats to us and the world that are out there. War. Genocide. Global climate collapse.

I read in an earlier post somewhere that there might be hippies out there.

That's who you need to worry about.

Not queer here, but hopefully a friend. Lucille, your response was both insightful and humbling, and I think anyone reading will find your intellect a resource for future conversation.

Neonbunny, if I offended you, then I simply ask you to accept my apology. I am sorry if you found offense in my words. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone. I believe you would find solace in my deeds.

Amen and thank you Lucille.

Now, can we please NOT let this thread get hijacked by the trolls!

NeonBunny, thanx so much for the list, I've put each and every event into my iPhone calender and will make sure to show up to each and every one, on time! Well, at least the non-vulva ones. Oh and I suppose there is only so many times you can trim your stuff in a week.

I did have to ask tho about the Gay Pride Parade at 8 AM... I can only say I'll TRY to be awake ... =8-)

yep, i'm a gay basher..yesiree....yup....uh-huh.....sure, whatever makes you feel good.

neon bunny, you are so blindsighted to your own prejudice of STRAIGHTS that you cant see the faggots thru the sticks....(oh, that was good....shivering with punny delight)

dont catergorize, dont put up the pink velvet rope, and i wont make fun of your exclusive behaviour.

otherwise, you're just another narrow-minded demographic group who keeps to their own and hides away in a Ghetto of Medley's by HALL AND OATES.

Um, Simon? Did you happen to read the preceding post? The one that makes it quite clear that no one is being excluded from anything?

Once again, carefully read through the listings provided by neonbunny. No where are any of these events listed as being exclusive to fagz/queerz/dykes/trannies, or anything else. If your interested, come. If not, don't.

Yes, it might be said that neonbunny reacted strongly to the piteous wails of oppression that were echoing about in here all of a sudden. I certainly can't personally imagine what might cause a person who grew up/came out in this society as gay/queer (as I am infering that neonbunny has) might be sensitized to this kind of nonsense.</sarcasm>

Heterophobia is in no way excluding you from attending any of the listed events. At this point, the only thing doing that is your apparent inability to see some homos getting together as anything other than some kind of threat. We don't have any pink, velvet ropes holding you back.

The idea of fitting you with some sort of decorative-yet-functional gag certainly does have it's attractions, though.

;)

i was being sarcastic, as i tend to be, and no harm was meant...

my point is that we are all BURNERS.....not gay burners, not east coast burners, not military burners, not goth burners, not gay military goth burners, not gay hippy burners, not goth hippy burners, not goth rave pyro military burners, not Jewish burners, or Greek Burners or Black blue or Purple Burners...

Just Burners....

leave your classifications at home.

"Hoping to compile a list for all my homo friends out there. "

how about just "friends"

Invite all, dont discriminate, and i wont be such a cunt about it.

ps....queers dont hold a deathgrip on style, fashion or music...interior decorating, maybe...
You're not going to find better music.

I saw an episode of The Jerry Springer Show, and the topic was "Transvestites and the Men Who Love Them." And the guy was on with his "girlfriend," and he was saying "To me, this is a beautiful woman. She's got a perfect body, beautiful blonde hair, everything. I love her, and I love making love to her. Now I ask you, does that make me gay?" Most of the audience thought so, and so did I. But it got me thinking about what is and isn't gay.

Discussing sex with a guy is gay. Discussing sex with a women is straight. Even telling a woman "Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to suck a cock," is straight.

Sports are gay, especially contact sports, unless you're the only guy on both teams, in which case it's straight.

Gyms are always gay, because afterwards, in the locker room, you're showering with guys, and that is gay.

Watching pornography alone is neutral, like eating a sandwich. It is neither straight nor gay. Watching pornos with one or more other guys in the room, no matter how many other women are also in the room, is gay. Watching porn, even gay porn, with one or more other women only is staright.

Here's an interesting one: Kissing a gay guy on the cheek, or letting him kiss you on the cheek is neutral, as long as the guy is out of the closet. Hugging and/or kissing a straight guy is gay.

See, look, I know I'm homophobic, but not about gay guys. They don't bother me at all. It's straight guys who don't know their gay... they fuck my shit right up.

Like a guy calls me up and says, "A bunch of us guys are gonna sit around in our underwear and watch the football game and drink beer and eat chips and, you know, maybe wrestle with each other, just us guys. You wanna come over?" And I'm like, "No."

Ok, you got a guy sucking your dick, even if he's dressed like a beautiful woman, even if he's got the best breast implants youv'e ever seen, even if you're saying to him "Suck it, bitch, I know you like it, you slut, you whore!" that's gay.

Conversely, if a woman straps on a dildo, and you're dressed like a woman, and you're sucking her cock, and she's saying, "You like it, don't you? You like sucking my dick you little fucking faggot," and then she rolls you over and fucks you in the ass and says "You love it you little pussy boy! You love getting fucked in the ass. I'll bet you wish I was a man! I'll bet you wish this was a real cock, you fucking faggot!" and you're getting off on this like you've never gotten off before, that's still straight.

But then, if you go off to the bar, and discuss this, or any other sexual experience with guys, that's gay.

Here's the most interesting one. Sucking a guys cock can, under certain rare cirumstances, be staright. Let's say you've gotten into a betting game with a woman, and the bet is that whoever loses has to be the other's sex slave for an entire night... you know, the kind of stuff that happens in Penthouse Forum all the time. And you lose, and the woman makes you have sex with another guy. That's not gay. I don't know exactly why, but it isn't.

But what is my sexual affiliation?

How bout this gang.....Im sexual. period.
Ive kissed a girl and Ive kissed a guy.

I refuse to have someone label me.
label the bread. thank you. its a wonder.

I know that the "gay" population out in default world isnt treated very nice, is frowned upon and is downright the receiver of alot of pure hate crimes.

But remember where your posting my gay/straight friends...this is EPlaya...this is HOME! We dont discriminate! We love everyone...unbiased!

thanks pinemom for clarifying....and also i would like to credit King Missile with the above lyrics, for "gay not gay"...i just assumed everyone would get the reference...silly me.

i am not what you think i am, and i guess my snark goes over/under your heads sometimes, and that is all fine and good.

but i refuse to be labeled also, and i find a particular distaste for those people that want to be intergrated into mainstream society legally, yet are exclusive socially and otherwise.

it is like a certain group of semites treating another group of semites as bad or worse then they were treated not too long ago...i wont name names.

so, to end it with a snarky one-liner, how about this...

"What? You suck a couple a dicks and all of a sudden you're a Faggot?"

Ba-dum-dum......snare...

ps....and dont tell me i cant listen to the techno version of Barbie Girl while i'm tuning my motorcycle cuz it's gay, cuz it's not....weird maybe...but not gay.
