Temple Burn...when is it?

Postby Grizelda » Mon Aug 11, 2008 12:05 pm

I figure there probably is one Sunday night, but does anybody know what time it is likely to be?

Watch the crowd. It grows restless as the air cools. A word is passed, then they begin moving like hooved beasts. Inexorably trampling the dry dust in the darkness, weaving their way across the open sands.
If you glance around yourself and speak these words: "Hey where did everybody go?' Then you look up and see a red glow in the distance and hear the shout of thousands of primal revelers rising across the desert like a single drunken beast, then you've already missed it.

Ok...so no specified time.

I'm just trying to talk my husband into staying for it, but we have a plane to catch in the (late) morning and he doesn't want to drive tired when there might be random cows on the road.

What to do what to do...

We left immediately following the temple burn last year... hit the exodus at about 10:30pm (I think) - we were already packed and parked by the exit (thought we could make a quick escape). Spent almost 3 hours getting to the road and made it out by 1:15am.

I'm pretty sure there is a specified time. We are all either too stoned to remember or too snarky to be nice enough to tell ya. I predict it will be lit early by some arsonist.. we seem to have a growing trend of ppl setting art on fire early.
