A fluffer is a hired member of the crew of a pornographic movie whose role on the set is to sexually arouse the male participants prior to the filming of scenes requiring erections.[1] Today, many adult film stars[who?] maintain that fluffers are a thing of the past, needed in the 1970s and 1980s when the crew, shooting on celluloid, needed much more time to prepare a shot. Erectile dysfunction drugs such as Viagra have also played a part in replacing fluffers.
A fluffer also has the duty of keeping adult film stars "cleaned up" in between takes or during photo shoot set-ups, so that the actors or models do not have to move from their positions. These duties are considered part of the makeup department. After setting up the desired angle, the director asks the actors to hold position and calls for the fluffer to "fluff" the actors for the shot.
Brittany Andrews has stated that fluffers are now utilized only in "gang bang" scenarios. In contrast, David Gordon uses fluffers in every film that he directs.[citation needed]
There have been two films entitled The Fluffer. The first,[2] a 2001 release, was about a bisexual man with a crush on a gay porn star that is heterosexual outside of his video career. The 2003 release[3] was a four-minute short comedy film.
...brought to you by the ultimate Fluffer Nutter! Jelly, you so kuh-rayzee!
Now I have to come up with its counterpart, that ever-so-essential element:
The Nemesis.
The Stuffer? The Buffer? The BLUFFER? (Oooh, I kinda LIKE that one...a "false Fluffer", perhaps offering some sort of uncalming, disorienting stimulus instead of the Hot And Fuzzy Hypnosis....)
*he scampers off to the studio*

Thanks, Dougly. I see you discovered my little double entendre. The DPW uses the term Fluffer for support crew individuals who deliver food, drink, messages, etc. to working crews in the field. If you look just a little closer at the project, there's a third element to the name-- a triple entendre, if you will (or won't).

No Manipulation
Indeed, Simon. So much opportunity for it to cross over into the creepy side-- and why not? If that's where the experience takes them. Just want to make sure that folks don't see it as a come-on for that... the old "I bet I could hypnotize you" line. Any suggestions on how I can indicate that right up front? I want it to be really apparent that there is no harsh or pervy, manipulative undercurrent, also that they don't soil my chair and blanket as it's just a dryer with no washing machine!

Re: No Manipulation
I can see the Bluffer Cat, leaning against a lamp post half a block away so that when Fluffer participants are walking away, recounting their sans-harsh comfort experience, he calls to them out of the shadows:robotland wrote:....eeeeewwwwwww....Heh.Mister Jellyfish Mister wrote: also that they don't soil my chair and blanket as it's just a dryer with no washing machine!

Heh, Bub. Got a light? How'd ya like to get Bluffed for a change?
*absent mindedly flicks claw* Heh heh.
Hey, Robotland. Keep writing poems so people stop using useless glue guns and fully embrace the wonders of Goop adhesive. Fluffer hates hot glue in the dryer!

Awesome work! As always your projects are a nice sight to see. I can still see those darn faces following me when I walk by in my dreams. Nice lil lab you have there.. can't wait till I have my own large space like that for projects. Now I'm still stuck working outside or borrowing spaces from employers or friends. How complex is that conversion to propane power? I must admit I have never gotten around to reading up on it although its always sounded like a nice option to have handy. I see you had to buy a kit for this.. are these very expensive?Mister Jellyfish Mister wrote:The Fluffer project is now well underway. Amongst the least celebrated of the many works of Hero Worker Jellyfish were The Pikes of Paranoia. Those faces you describe are still serving and entertaining The People. This vigilant toiler worked many hours to see that they became the central feature of our Mutant Vehicle,The State Mobile Observation Unit.I can still see those darn faces following me when I walk by in my dreams.

Thanks, Toolmaker and Zorro Sings. Today is a bit of a wash. I was planning on making stuff in the garage but after a ton of household chores I think I'll just smoke a cheap cigar and putter. Sometimes that's part of the process for me link bump-set-spike in volleyball.
Propane conversion kits are pretty easy to install for a gas dryer. they cost around 20-45 dollars and come with instructions. Best left to a qualified person if it's going to be inside a house, but what the hell-- Fluffer is an outdoor doggie!
Here's the link to the original Pikes of Paranoia project before they were retrofitted to become part of the fabulous SMOU: http://www.mutantvehicle.com/paranoia_pikes.htm
