don't know what you have decided on this, but if you go ahead with this I will be visiting your camp. Just let us know where to find you.

Oh! I do recommend a small "impromtu" stage.

Just a friendly warning to all of you "touchies" out there.

A handshake will suffice, thank you.

Aww, sounds like someone has a case of the "Muundays", I think you need a *HuG* :D
Weren't you paying attention Braden? Simon already said he doesn't need hugs, just chemicals! :D

You might consider Snowflake Village (www.clevian.com/snowflake2009).

We already run Play Speed Dating. Line up, 4 guys, 4 gals, you have two minutes to explain yourselves, then you rotate. After 8 minutes, you pick each other by secret ballot. Even shy people work well with this, as we "command" them to interact! :) I might point out that we also host the national MENSA camp, many shy, but intelligent people.

If you have other activities to help shy people interact, we would be all for them.

This idea is awesome! As a former "shy extremist" and a current "not-so-shy-but-still-shy-sometimes" person I would have loved to attend this camp (if I wasn't too shy before, lol). I am going to be at Blackrock Yearbook camp this year so I'll have some duties to attend to throughout the week, but I can definitely make time to attend and help out in whatever way at this camp.

One thing regarding my note above about not attending if my shyness got in the way...that may be another thing you might want to address in some way. Maybe have a list where people can come and write a shy friend's name down, their camp and address, and you can send a shyness consultant out there to scoop them up and bring them to the camp to get them out of their shell. Or maybe you can have one of the activities be to have the entire group (depending on the size), or a small group, go to each person's camp on the list and get them to join the group or something. One thing I can tell you as a former shy person is that it's a lot easier to come out of your shell when you are invited into activities as opposed to having to jump in yourself. But then again, that's one of the areas that'll need to be addresses at some point as well.

Great idea, I hope you end up doing it this year, or in the near future!

This is a great idea! I'm still a "sometimes shy" (and avid self-doubter at these times) and having a "guest book" to anonymously sign up your own shy self or shy friends for a shyness consultant to go invite you/them to activities would get the ball rolling!

Hey, everyone, it's not actually that bad. Sure, I was a little shy in 07, but not completely shy, so it ended up that not all of me went into the cook pot.

I'm still getting private messages about this camp even though we didn't apply to become an official theme camp. I'm (still) very moved.

I'm coming from Vancouver and probably carpooling with a friend. I'll have just about enough room for my own junk. I'd be happy to "run" this camp and, if enough people join in, do a bigger/better job of it next year. Don't know who you're camping with? YOU DO NOW!

So, uh... pm me with something about who you are and what you'd like to do to make this camp awesome and ... and... welcome! :)[/i]

Too shy to register, huh?

I hope you have good luck with it.

I would suggest you enable your email.
Many of us prefer email to the pm system.

I've never had a problem on here.

Some of the least shy people I've ever met are Vancouveritarianites.
Maybe you're only shy in Vancouver?

I meant registering as an official theme camp.
You can still do it without that, of course.

I think this might be a fun activity, maybe for a day of night. As a generally outgoing person myself I think I'd be a bit bored hangin with shy folks all day.

Great! Come by and adopt one for a few hours. Show them around, encourage them to do things, and make a new friend.

Awesome idea!

I have a huge passion for psychology as I went - and am still going - through the transformation from a reasonably outgoing person with some areas of massive shyness to a much more rounded outgoing person. There are so many different methods that can be used to build upon certain areas of yourself. The main one is getting experience with interactions and learning from them. It is an awesome way to learn!

I would be very good at getting a shy person to go out there and do some fun, crazy and liberating things while feeling very comfortable about themselves.

PM me if you would like me to take part. I am more than happy to.
