Oh we could probably find members of this boards queer cohort who like and use it, and who hate and protest the use of the term queer. But it's overwhelming use is pejoritive and implies that homosexuality is unmanly. And I kinda wonder what kind of soft underbellies its users are hiding.

But yeah, don't know survival. It's very precious indeed, and by saying that sort of stuff you make yourself look like a 17-year-old idiot who believes that girls dont' get pregnant the first time.
Oh cmon.. what the fuck is offensive about the word pansy. My use of the word has nothing to do with gay folk. Sister.. sometimes you just read a lil too much into a post seeing things that aren't there. Here on the east coast when someone calls ya a pansy it usually means that you are scared to do something in fear of minor injury. This is the first I've heard of it meaning homo=unmanly. Must be an east coast west coast thing kinda like Gringo being a term of endearment on the west coast and a racial slur here on the east coast.

PS Girls don't get preggers the first time if you do it on the lip like a milk ad.

Yep that is the way I see it Toolmaker.

I never thought it meant a refrence to gay.

I allways thought it meant... frail like a flower.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedi wrote:Pansy

The pansy or pansy violets are a large group of plants cultivated as garden flowers. Pansies are derived from Viola tricolor and can include hybrids with other viola species which then are referred to as Viola × wittrockiana, but sometimes they are listed under the name Viola tricolor hortensis. The name "pansy" also appears as part of the common name of a number of wildflowers belonging, like the cultivated pansy, to the genus Viola. Some unrelated species, such as the Pansy Monkeyflower, also have "pansy" in their name.

nope I didn't see any thing about gay.

Tribe down, no one to be snarky to fish?

Use of pansy to imply that some one is an unmanly, delicate flower certainly predates it's use to imply homosexual. (I am moving and the compact OED is in the other house.) It seems to me that pretty much any adjective that describes femininity in men seems to be a codeword for gay.

At some point we need to stop looking at individual words and start looking at people's actions. I think in our current society that the word "them" is used more often and in more damaging ways than the words "nigger' or "faggot".

Start a new thread and discuss it.

As for my being a pansy for wanting to throttle the flame. I think it would look really cool and would be fun to build. I have a couple of really cool mechanisms in mind for it already. Also, while I may not being bathed in flame while riding other people might be less enthusiastic about the process. Melting some gal's faux-fur bikini will not make friends. (Terrible place to get burned.)

I wasn't even callin you a pansy..

I was just tryin to say it Burningman ya know

fire=good
more fire=better
slightly singed riders=a riot

I say we build it.. ride it.. and burn it at weeks end.

Mozy: Did you actually want to build such a wonderful ride or were you just teasin us with some pics?

I would be willing to do some shifts to help keep her fueled and whatnot if I make it next year. Make the whole thing outta wood and have participants crank it for power. Maybe the fire can come from a hurricane lamp style kevlar wick. That way it would only have to be filled when empty would likely be alot cheaper than doing a propane effect.

So if anyone is still on that thread anymore. I can't read it or post to it.
I am done with tribe. they don't respond to the 30 emails I sent to reset my account.

Just be advised that I am locked out.

hey Mozy,
I had earlier offered to help, and learn to tend bar.........still will.
I was trying to follow what's going on over on tribe, but that is sucky there.........
If you're still organizing, perhaps a list of jobs/materials/skills/equipment needed, so folks that want to "play" can also choose something to help?
see what response you get there........that might more specifically tell you who's in and who's out........

just a thought.

Sorry ygmir

I’m still locked out of tribe. So I can’t read or post to the thread.
Right now I am trying to work with my client base to get the nightclub built.
Bookings have me busy right now.
And I am not ready to open the google group yet.

Thanks I’m working on it.

Ning is indeed pretty tight.. LOADS better than tribe. Google seems to have good uptime too. Maybe ya should just move the entire thing from tribe over to somewhere a lil more stable like Ning or Google.. or even Yahoo.

I think I saw that installation last year, only it was on fire and there were pygmies...
A plan is what you vary from.

Destiny Lounge has been proven to cause cuteness in small kittens.

Destiny Lounge 3D - located in the 3:00 Plaza at G for 2019! Look for our art installation too: The Temple uv Enlightenment!

It’s a Salvador Dali. A burner artist before his time.
I was thinking what a great playa project it would be to replicate one of his painting.

You know kinda making the painting come to life so to speak.

How about a live action Dali. Participants could move about and some of the piece could articulate. Take the 2D and make it 3D.

I hope someday to be able to have handlebars.
