Enjoy using your five senses in Black Rock City

You should pay close attention to the citys formation and harmony. Look at their faces,
Just listen to the songs, the music accented with tempos beating in the dust.
Using your whole body, touch the wind of the desert
that carries the heart and rhythm of the city.
Take a deep breath and enjoy the lively spirit of the night
At last, let your heart dance to the music as it feels like doing
Move your body, and remember the joy is to be shared.

Mr. Bones, you have an interesting camp in the making, it is evolving, as the theme suggests.

i make "erotic furniture" as a hobby, and sometimes paid diversion from the humdrum of Bars and restaurants and peoples barK-O-Loungers.

take a look, i have ALOT more, and some videos of "the fuck chair" a monster, now dismantled, that featured a hand blown, (no pun intended, really) glass dilly attached to a paint mixer motor with a two inch throw.

those i would e-mail to you if you so wish.

i would like to offer my support and my hands to your Luxurious Lounge.

more pics....

http://www.lux666.com/photos/index.php? ... mFilters=t

check out the tables.

i dont have much money, (well, actually i do, compared with most of the globe, so it's relative i suppose) but i do have "mad skills" and could contribute labor, and some materials, as i often have leftovers from big jobs. (fabric, foam, etc etc)

of course, the catch.....transpo.....we would have to figure out a way to get said product (i am calling all artwork 'product' now, god bless damien hirst) to you as i am in Western NY.

might as well be canada.

i made all the daybeds and cushy-cushs in the chill dome at root society for the past two years.

but he has a truck that rolls thru from boston, so the logisticvs are'nt bad.

just a thought....no time like the present to get started.

and maybe, just maybe, i'll actually get out and SEE the city this year, god-dammit.

pm me if you think you might be needing new members in your entourage,
it would be a tent for two, my trophy wife, oh wait, that was the american dream, my BotFem and I, and we leave a very small footprint, if any at all..

i will still be making stuff for RS, but i cannot spend another year 20 ft from the biggest fucking sub-woofers in this hemisphere.

all of my gall stones have already been removed, and i can withstand even a waco-like sonic psy-op with style...however, my better half needs sleep every now and then, unlike the extremely focused and attentive me.

"turn it up motherfuckers" is what i would yell at the B.A.T.F as they
'play the chickens being slaughtered" tape, but like i said, that is me, and i am a twisted fuck who still has a taste for fucking happy hard core, i'm so ashamed.

damn....focus....ok.....as i was saying, we have gone way past the "this is it, last fucking year" phase, breezed right thru the "well, maybe if we could scale it back a little" phase, to "hey, lets stay at some other camp, and still do the gig with RS but without the constant intrusion of THOOOOOOM, THUMP THUMP.THOOOOOOOOOM." phase.

thanks. the photos look HOT and thats not because i have a flame decorating motif soft spot in my heart either.

simon.

The booth is twenty feet at it's widest point. I was thinking something like this.

two booths per arch.

those are GREAT....very 1950's Sahara. (the hotel, not the desert)

i can do that.

it's just plywood, foam, cotton, Vinyl (for ease of cleaning) and Love.

like i said, it may be better logistically to actually do the upholstergeisting on location of staging area, storage, instead of trying to truck two monster booths from rochester ny.

i travel, and can always bring tools. i only really need an air compressor, which just about every 5 year old has in their toy box.

i'm just finishing something very similar in design, except it's brown leather, and straight....i like the kidney shape alot.

Wow, Simon! Your furniture is very cool! I had no idea! And Mozy, I love the plans so far! Looks like you're gonna have quite the bar next year! Impressive... but I would expect nothing less!

Woof!
A plan is what you vary from.

the sky was cyan
above the sabkha;
the alkali flat,
the remnant of
an endorheic lake.
the small round depression
was devoid of vegetation.
the waterfowl had gone
and the sandhill cranes
and shorebirds
had lifted up their great
brown and white wings
and flown away
to wade elsewhere.

as the pleistocene epoch
drew to a close
the waters of lake lahontan
dried out
left only desiccated remains.
in its wake
it remembers the first men,
naked animals
scavenging and making their way
carving pictograms in caves
with ochre, hematite
manganese oxide and charcoal.

black rock desert
glimmers in the blaring sunlight
as if the star above
knows and wishes to partake
in the destruction.
that solar gaze
joining the radicalism
prematurely.

OK here is one for you. I want to lift the tent at the center pole and also all the star points off the ground by four feet. with steel sculptures.
how much do you think the sculptures should weight?
the tent in red shows white slabs being used for anchors.

Could you make them light enough to move into place and fix them in place with the tent's anchoring pins?

The sculptures could in effect be boxes with removable panels that could accommodate weight in more manageable sizes like sandbags.

Sculpture/Box to double as camp supply storage?

Basically you just need something at the approximate angle coming from the top of aforementioned sculpture to meet up with the star bottom. On the playa you could stake down a tab (possibly removable) from the bottom of the "lifts". Off the playa just add sandbags like Zule mentioned to your "lifts". I would try to make something dual or triple purpose that can be easily assembled and disassembled for ease of transport.. but thats just my take.

I like the idea of the scupture boxes as storage.
They could even be coolers, holding ice and beer.

Love it!

yes, i will....have been very busy finishing a bar here in town, so i promise, this weekend, after i drop these booths in and collect my money and go restock my herbal supplies, i'll sit down and spend an hour or two doing all the e-stuff i have backing up....

i only come on e-playa briefly, albeit 3 times a day, to vent off extra snark, so i dont get into trouble in the default world by accidently screaming at the top of my lungs some awful blasphemies.

Or water.... water is way easier to use than sandbags due to its disposability.

thanks everyone I love the feed back.

I was thinking water also. some of the tent company's use water when you can not drive a stake. I bet the white slabs are water tanks
