BRC 2009 Map Design?
On another thread, Crypto mentioned rumor of reverting the city design back to an older model from around 2004, due to a general dissatisfaction with the 2008 layout. Does anyone have any further info on this or any other input from BMORG on a new layout for this year? I love maps
A plan is what you vary from.
Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

2009 Map design
Yes, I was told by someone on the Art committee that they are considering using the 2007 model.
I believe that there are three sites used for Black Rock City, 'A', 'B' and 'C'.
Much of the site selection has to do with the attendance predicted for the upcoming year. A large attendance is expected this year, and so the 2007 model ('B') will be used.

There is plenty of info on site specifics and reasoning for locations available here: http://www.nv.blm.gov/Winnemucca/NEPA/b ... ingman.htm if you enjoy a good read. What I am most interested in is the actual city design for this year, which is not addressed in the permits themselves. Last year's city I believe was technically designed to accommodate the maximum number of people allowed under the current permit thru 2010 (50,000), which means we can't get any bigger, unless some sort of exception has been made. Many felt the city was far too spread out last year, compounded by the lousy ground conditions and inability to easily use most bikes. I am just curious if we are indeed going to compress the size back down to where it was in 06 and 07, and what other rearrangements might be made to try to improve the overall layout (plazas, portals, theme camp areas, etc.). Fishy mentioned 2004, but in 2004 there were no 4:30 or 7:30 theme camp areas.

let's make it easy on ourselves....lets do it in the Reno Airport.
a "freak-in".
it'll take at LEAST a week to cuff and process 50,000 people. In the meantime, there are an abundance of slots, nice bathrooms, and maybe a little doody-free shopping, not to mention speedy wi-fi.
i got dibbs on the hertz rental car lounge...Camp Hertz Zehr Gut!
done, and done.
