Needed: Projector Screen or Theater to film BM-Relevant Docu

Post by dieselcruiserhead » Tue Aug 25, 2009 9:30 am

Hi Guys,

I apologize for the last minute nature of this -- this just happened late last week...

I have been asked to screen "We Live in Public" at Burning Man as its last premier event before it hits theaters next week opening in NY. If anyone hasn't heard about it is very BM-community oriented with tons of eerie similarities about its arts community and is also about the future of the Internet via social media (relevant to the tech crowd). It's been screened to Microsoft's top programmers and all around the world and is considered "very important." It also won the Sundance Grand Jury prize (their most prestigious award) out of thousands of applicants. Check out the trailer here:

Also check out their official site:
http://www.weliveinpublicthemovie.com/

And finally see all of conversations about it on Twitter -- very positive!

Unfortunately the arrangement I've made to show it at an existing theater haven't panned out. Bad Idea Theater was very supportive but is "strongly committed to their theme" (bless their hearts :) ) and PlayaFrame will not be making it this year. I do have a projector lined up and can screen it at my camp but I know there has got to be something already established or more legit.

If you're interested please contact me ASAP at andre "at" shoumatoffmedia.com or PM me or give me a call at 435 6 Three 1 0021

OR, post up if anyone has any ideas or suggestions!

thank you!
Andre

I am organizing a meet up of live video artists, not really what your after, but you never know? you might find someone with the right place for you? doesn't hurt to check it out?

here are the details:

VJ meet and greet - Burning Man 09

calling all video geeks! calling all video geeks!

Date:
Wednesday, September 2, 2009
Time:
3:00pm - 5:00pm
Location:
center camp

Video artists of black rock city, lets get together, and meet each other. there is a host of Camps planning on using our services for the entertainment of there patrons this burn. Opulent Temple will be hosting VJ, as with Root Society, Robot Heart, Visionary Village, and possibly Philadelphia Experiment.

let's get together at Center Camp late afternoon on Wednesday so we can all meet up and get to know one another, maybe even fill in a few last minute gigs. plan to see other inspiring artists sets and such. Or maybe you just want to talk shop with the rest of use video nerds.

I put the time as 3-5PM, but as most of you know Playa time is kind of a loose reality... 5PM is the cut off time, the meeting may continue for longer if people want, just if your out and about and can't make it for 5, I'd suggest abandoning the trip to center camp.

I'll make sure I'm there around 3PM, so just look for a guy all covered in playa dust..... I'll probably be wearing goggles to, can't be anyone else out there with goggles, right? oh, maybe I'll bring my laptop, cause that would be a useful tool... so look for the dusty guy with the laptop.

Very cool, I'll be there... Worse comes to worse it my be a good option. I was planning to screen it maybe 1AM on Wed night and something like 2 oe 3 AM on Friday night so that may provide an opportunity at the last minute. The film is trying to send someone officially from their crew as well which will be welcome. These are the same guys who made "Dig!" a couple years ago which also won Grand Jury Sundance (the only person in history to do it twice).

I can provide a screen. It's about 10 feet wide, a portable photographer's backdrop, with a stretch spandex white screen. It's not pro, but it's big and I'll have it anyway. You'd have to stake it down with guy wires.
