I think the paint will release dioxins.... that may or may not be funny, I haven't decided.

Remember, bring weird art or get weird art.
Or both!

A wonderful success! Thanks to everyone who donated and adopted art. The "gift shop" was very popular, I need a sign, LOL.

Bummer moment when I found two stanchions and one red velvet rope had been taken on burn night. Joyous moment when a neighbor roared up on a yellow bike announcing he had found them over between 230 and 3 in front of a theme camp. Her was rewarded with fresh biscuits and hot cookies and juice. (propane oven in camp, joy joy) We are looking into etching my name and camp on them, maybe nailing them to the playa (would slow casual jokers down), and definitely locking them up on burn night.

If it won't get in the way, light cable may help.
The 4 mm chain I can get, cannot be casually cut and looks decorative.

Harbor freight has a variety of letter stamps, recently on sale cheap.
Low quality, very low price.
Northern has a better set in one size only.
The usa sets are worth the cost, but don't sell for a few bucks.
Depends on material you are stamping.

The good paint markers are very effective.
Nissen has been the best for me, but very tricky to use.

I think the rotary engravers work better than the vibrating type.
And hand tools work, but cost and skill is even higher.

You can even get a logo cut in a hand stamp.
Cost is what you might expect, depending on tooling chosen.
And rounded or dot pattern work even better on most materials.

Did the fox find a home and what did you find for the frame?

I would liked to have visited with you but you seemed a bit too busy and a little frazzled, so I didnt want to impose. :)

The fox did find a loving home, going as a gift to a lady who could not attend and who loves foxes. No frame, the frame ended up traveling the playa as a picture prop and came back to the Home. I will take several next year for this new aspect of the project, "The Frame Shoppe".

You should have visited, I'm almost always frazzled, it is my state of being some days. I stayed in camp a couple days, which was actually great, lots of people came by to see me. This included several eplaya lurkers who never post. Kinda strange, but tons of fun.

I have piles and piles. And I already fished something out of a pile by the garbage can.

We put "You=Fail" up for adoption. I trust it found a caring home.

I wasn't going to take anything but a simple painting of a bird really caught my eye and we ended up taking it home.
Surprise, Surprise-I just looked at the back and it's an "original" AntiM !!

I remember reading the card for You=Fail, but don't recall the comment off the top of my head.

An original M, well, there are a few of those in the mix, LOL. Which bird painting? I did a Western Crow on a sign (Ubiquitous Sign of the West), and a vivid black and red crow abstract. ???? I don't paint birds often.

I'd like to hear some thoughts on this...

I've been using cigar boxes in my art lately. I often cut off the top of the box and use the rest without it. There is no question in my mind that these tops are art; I love the embossing and the gold and the 19th century type drawings. But these are commercial pieces, and they advertise a product I have objections to. (Yes, I know that that's a contradiction and I shouldn't be fence sitting like this. Deal with it.)
Would these be appropriate donations to the HFWWA or are they best painted/collaged over or used as wood or otherwise?
thank you

I think they're fine, but if you don't, then alter them as you feel moved. The old advertising art has charm and is history after all.

I have an idea for a piece of art that I will complete at BM next year (there's an element that needs input from others). But, I don't think I want to bring it home with me. Maybe I'll donate it to the home for Wayward art and let it go home with someone else.

Right now I believe it will be on canvas. But not 100% sure of that yet. Still in the planning stages.

Tangent: I didn't take a picture of the Home this year. Anyone?

Beautiful Art!

Postby RevDusty » Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:09 am

Anti M, in my wanderings on Saturday, I came across the Home for Wayward Art. I found a piece that I really loved....a postcard size painting of what is unmistakably the playa.

Upon turning it over, I saw it was by you. Thank you so much, I really enjoy it. I know there were cards there in which to leave a message on, but they were all out, or I would have.

Thanks again, it's a great thing to look at and remind me of a place I love.

I'd run low on cards on Saturday, I threw in some blanks, but a little late.

I'm glad you liked the painting. I do a lot of variations on the playa scenery.

Here you are!

"Playa Foot"... I adopted from you in 2007. I love it so much. I have pictures too; I will upload this week and post---I just looked for them and think they are on my older laptop; one of my favorite memories of any year was when I adopted a piece of art and met you...
