Burner Band Gravybrain to return 2010

Post by Gravybrain » Wed Feb 03, 2010 9:22 am

Cool, were the first post! Chico California Acid Jazz band Gravybrain is planning on returning to the playa for the 3rd year in a row. We are a five (sometimes up to 8!) piece band and played on the playa in 2008 and 2009. We have played camps, the Moonshine Tavern, the Booby Bar, Transmorphagon, and the Nautilus X art car. We have also played the 2008 and 2009 SF Decomps and the 2009 Burnal Equinox. We are a true burner band!

We are looking for unique opportunities for playing on the playa again this year, would especially love to play atop a large art car. (Booby Bar, we would love to play in Terminal City again!)

Anyway, check us out at
Also on Facebook, search gravybrain (all one word)

Looking forward to another great burn!

Antioquia -- music to shake the booty and amplify the soul

Post by Antioquia » Thu Feb 18, 2010 3:51 pm

Hola e-playa!
Our musical family is based out of Oakland CA and we play a mix of psychedelic rock, funk, and rhythms of the African diaspora. It's very percussive, very love-inducing, very Burning Man suited music. We're looking for a stage to share our music from at Burning Man 2010.

Check the music out at:
Live video:

We're very inspired by pedal power technology and are particularly keen in finding a project exploring 'alternative' energy generation... algae / kinetic / solar / etc...
But our main goal is of course to bring our music to the people of la playa this year and we'll be grateful for opportunities to do so :-)
Please reply to this post or get in touch with us at [email protected] to discuss possibilities.
on behalf of Antioquia family

Electronic music from Ireland

Post by robbie ryan » Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:43 am

Hello from Dublin, Ireland

I am very excited about my first trip to the burning man festival. There is a big gang of friends coming over for BM. But after BM myself and my girlfriend are starting a year of travelling, we fly to Cancun, from there we are moving overland through Central and South America all the way down to Buenos Aries. Good times!

Back home in Ireland i run my own electronic music club night and also DJ too. In 2008 i did a tour through Africa and played my music to people in 4 countries including the Lake of stars festival in Malawi( It was an amazing experience. I would love to bring some of my Irish tunes to BM and to anywhere during my travels.

Please read a little more about me and the precious gigs i have done..

Please check out the past guests i have booked to play at my gigs..

Much respect & big love to the Burning Man crew!

Silvermouse needs a stage

Post by amaani » Thu Mar 11, 2010 7:09 pm

Hi - we are Silvermouse, electro-acoustic fusion... from Madrid, NM. We are looking for a place to play on the playa.

We wanna play!!!

Our music draws on Arabic drum rhythms, psychedelic rock guitar, Celtic fiddle and instrumentation inspired by both Gypsy and American folk traditions.

Everything is played, looped and mixed up live in performance with nods to breakbeat, trance, downtempo drum and bass and techno.

Blessings to you...
Silvermouse is an electro-acoustic fusion, earth trance, futuristic gypsy caravan, beats, breaks and progressive basslines meet flying improvisations on mandolin, violin, guitar and flute in real time, mixed up, woven together and blown open.

Question about playing at Burning Man

Post by jerwest » Thu Mar 18, 2010 8:25 pm

How does it work if you're a band and want to play at Burning Man? I know that the band must find a stage to partner with in order to play but is it possible for the band to get comped tickets to BM?

I've tried looking on the site and have even called the phone number in San Fran but I've not been able to find anything out (no one returned my call).

Thank you for your assistance.

In Truth, Love and Gratitude,

no comped tix for bands (or DJ's, artists, fire performers, etc), unless a themecamp wants you as their house band and buys them for you... this is highly unlikely, however...

If your band wants to come, practice self-reliance - buy your tickets, get your camping gear together, and keep an eye on theme camp threads, many provide a stage and basic sound equipment, and will book you in advance; some will post here if they have open stage time...

IMHO, you don't want to book out more than 3 times over the week- it takes a couple of days to adjust to the altitude & dry heat, everything takes longer on the playa, and schlepping gear around is a chore; you want to leave free days for enjoying the festivities...

Hey all! I'm looking for a booking! Here's my info:

Anodyne Industries is a powerful blend of progressive electronic heavy bass music. Taking influences from breakbeat, dubstep, drum & bass and IDM, the A.I. sound is infused with generous helpings of hard crunchy basslines and soaring melodies.

In production since early 2009, I've had my music released on the IDMf compilation album "Continuum" as well as put out a good number of tracks on my own. My upcoming 5 track EP will be dropping soon with some wistful slow electronica and powerful uplifting dubstep soon!

Throughout early 2009 I performed live at various local SF/Bay events. I played twice at the Dustfish Bordello on the Playa last year. Afterwards I was booked for SF Decompression and after party. Most recently I was invited to perform at the SF Burnal Equinox event.

I'd love to play at any sound camps that are looking for bass music performers! My sets range across multiple genres and can be tailored for quiet morning performances or skull crushing midnight ass shaking timeslots!

You can find more info here:

Or listen to some of my tunes and mixes here:[img][/img][img][/img]

So I shoulda posted in here......

anyways... I would really like to play a few times this year durring burning man....

I spin Dubstep.... I am not a dj who just plays songs and switches next song to the next song with no real mix..... Im the dj who plays 2 records together constantly...

If your looking for someone to play... im always down.

^^ Link to my mix^^

This mix is soooooo dirty. a few minor errors for it was recorded at 4am in the woods in front of a bunch of people getting down..... while under the influence....

anyways..... its dirty.... listen to it... if you want me to play at your stage at the burn.... let me know.....

I also have really good fire performers who really like to spin fire while I play. ;)

I am a performer looking for a stage!

My name is Jeremy. I run the Cut Throat Freak Show.
I pride myself on being REALLY good at fire breathing. I also juggle fire.
I do numerous other acts including eye-socket weight lifting, hammering a nail into my face, eating and stomping through broken glass, blowing up my dick with an m-80 (you may have seen that last week on America's Got Talent), and being a general silly ass.
I won't be bringing broken glass though, 'cause I don't want to have to haul it. I intend to live out of my tiny backpack.

I'm one of the most down people you'll ever meet. Let's do something awesome!

Oh, and I'm into harsh noise, and ruckus causing marching bands full of delinquents. But down for anything.
