DJ/music schedule or general info on who will be there?
Hi!
I'm wondering if at some point there will be a list or some type of info on which dj's/music artists will be present? Or is it just hit or miss who you happen to find while there? There were a few artists I heard were there last year, and I'd love to be able to find them, and at the right time!

Now, Now.... Snarky isn't necessary...
OP-
A lot of stages will post their DJ or Music Lineup. Transmorphagon will be posting our lineup fairly soon; since we just got placement we are organizing stuff and beginning to put the sched on the front burner.

actually there is a eplaya member who a few weeks before the burn usually posts a printable schedule that is surprisingly accurate. I Can't remember the name but i think it is a her, and i think librarian is somewhere in the playa name. It is her gift to the community and I loved having it last year.
Creating Peace Through Anarchy Every Day!!! Stagger for life!
Thank you! I am a first timer going alone (will try to find friends) and still weighing my feelings regarding going vs. not going. I've spoken to many friends and get the gist of burning man,
yet notice that so many posts on eplaya are in fact snarky and rude and sarcastic and even judgemental. I have no idea what to expect at the bm!
Thanks again

Why don't you just come out to the playa and find out who's gonna be playin'??? Don't base your decision of whether you'll be attending or not on who's going to be spinning records. If that's what you're after head down to the desert east of L.A. there are plenty of raves in that neck of the woods.
Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

As a die hard lover of almost anything electronic...really all music to be honest. I can say for certain if your reasoning for comming to the playa depends on a DJ or many of them, you have missed the point.
Seeing a DJ is like the milk that goes in the coffee, or the ice in your drink. It's a bonus, but by no means is it worth it to haul all your crap out there endure the heat and all that goes with the event, just for a little body shaking to a DJ.
If you do go, keep an open mind and I'll bet even your most prized DJ you would want to see will not hold a candle to all the other things you will see.

Im not sure Avrix was saying that he wasn't attending BM if there were no DJ's. He/She is just looking for a listing. I remember in 2007 there was a list on the website of live bands where & when kind of thing. I missed MOST of who I wanted to see.
You should probably just hit 2:00 one night & 10:00 another night & see how it goes.

don't forget to floss
Read the first timer's guide (it's a must), getting the jist of "it" from a friend doesn't always paint the "whole" picture. Then re-evaluate whether you still wanna go of not. Someone once said "burnin' ain't easy" and that's the straight up truth!!

Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

OK, cuz your a newb, and a sensitive one for that, but just this one time:
Root Society 2009 Lineup:
http://renopassport.com/burning-man-200 ... dj-lineup/
Opulent Temple 2009 Lineup:
http://www.opulenttemple.org/archives/000146.php
And this is only two of the several dozen sound camps.
And then there is the super special top secret stuff that never makes the list. Regulars are Tiesto, Oakenfold, Lorin/Basenectar etc.
It would be reasonable to assume that 2010 will be just as exciting.

awwww
thanks guys!
No I am not going to burning man JUST to hear specific dj's. I have also done lots and lots of research, looked at pictures, read blogs etc and really do get it. I would just love to see Troy Pierce or Magda, for example, if they happen to be there again! Not a huge deal if not, as I wander around 'with an open mind'. ;-)
see ya'll there

My most memorable musical experiences have been the random ones like: encountering Soul in the Machine on a back street in 2004, walking into the jazz club near center camp to hear some really great jazz played by a guy in a bunny suit on trombone a naked guy on sax and a few others in random costumes, the violinist who came by our camp all dressed in pink to play amongst the flock of flamingos, the guy wailing on his bagpipe at dusk, hearing the strains of Environmental Encroachment from 2 streets away and following it to a small french cafe for brunch and marching band music.
Sure I dance to the DJs, but it's just dance and one night at Root Society is almost no different than another at Opulent Temple.

It's going to be alright.

Yeah, rockstar librarian was her name.

I sent her a message asking if she intends to do it again this year. It seems like a lot of work, but quite an amazing gift to the community. She basically went through all the major and smaller sound camps and figured out where and who was playing.

I was not aware that this was a music festival...
It can be if you want it to be. I was personally quite bummed to hear that Infected Mushroom played and I missed them.

Gee, I thought I wasn't being snarky ... Seriously!!! You will know when I have my snarky chip engaged!
I admit to being uninterested in who is playing where! It is kinda fun not having any expectations. But that might just be my personal feelings.
I also have never managed made it to a single thing in the guide that I intended to attend. Too many distractions on the trip across the city

The rockstar librarian is a good friend and long time campmate of mine. I can promise you that she will be creating the music lineup again this year. She does work hard to put this together as a gift to the community and works hard to contact all the camps to get as accurate of a lineup as possible. She'll post it on her website as soon as it's available. I'll get on the eplaya and post a l;ink once she has it up as well.

As an avid listener of berlin's minimal/IDM/techno scene I have to say Paul Kalkbrenner is PRISTINE! He's absolutely the best-his announcement sealed the deal for me to come to BM 2010. I dislike Top 40 edm. Imo, oakenfold is cheesy.

The only catch is in the finding it. I couldn't believe the year they had it at the fence opposite 7:30. I was lucky that Piss Clear was told, it was a small intense party that year, but Bassnectar played some mean beats.

There's walk in camping.
Because of the phrasing of your post, I'm wondering if you are intending to drive from your camp to this quiet place. If I'm right, that won't fly. Once you're parked, that's it for the event.
