My wife is a Mutant Vehicle widow
My wife is a Mutant Vehicle widow
Our small group of four (my wife and I and another couple) have" been working on our mutant vehicle since Nov. Lots of work and still lots to do. I can't seem to stop thinking about it. Always trying to solve problems and get projects done. Not...enough...time. I'm a lot more in to it than my wife. I can't blame her. It's my design and it's pretty over the top. The other day while I was projecting art onto a panel out on the yard at near midnight. She poked her head out to see how things were going. That she was going to bed. And that she feels like "an art car widow." Anybody else feeling this pressure?

Sounds like it is time to go out on a date where you might thank her for all the help and support on the mutant but not talk about it for more than 1% of the time.
Message to send. Yes the mutant vehicle is really important to me right now but you are more much more important and long term than the mutant vehicle will ever be.

I'm kinda catching that same kinda shit myself, I've got three bikes to trick out, one tent trailer to finish putting the final touches on, a evap. pond and shower stall to build, a shade structure to engineer and build, a truck to service, costume crap to/make buy, sound system to install and a few other tid bits to do..That doesn't include all the other shit that needs to be done around the house weekly or the everyday stuff that arises. It can be tough at times, but it will all be worth it when we're all loaded up and leaving for the playa. Meanwhile a break from it all helps, maybe a trip to tahoe this weekend for some RnR, drinks and craps will do the trick!! Keep your eyes on the prize!
Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

I Was an ESD Widow
...so I can relate. It's hard to have the person you love obsessed with something. You want to be there, too; you want to be getting some of that love and attention. During courtship did you spend as much time thinking about how to please and help and pamper her? Not that I was going anywhere with that question, just curious.
She needs to find something that will give her interests on playa, because, in case you don't already know, mvs take a lot of pampering during the event. Whether it's visiting every sex camp or joining a sewing circle, you (and this is in the plural) do not want her bored and lonely while you're there. So, you can have her look at the on web event calendar and figure out an itinerary (with the old burn the itinerary moment when the camp's up.) She could join the eplaya and join in the chatter and maybe find people she wants to meet. Or give her a bullhorn. (Put a ribbon on it, and tell her it's the Lexus of bullhorns.)
(Sorry about the commercialism there folks.)
And that's in addition to a weekend off and a date night a week where you focus on her.
Edited to add: Oh, yeah. You might want to hang on every word next time she's describing a project of her own...
