Military/Combat Veterans need a theme camp? I got one.
i'm an OIF veteran. (somalia, rwanda, haiti and bosnia too). I'm also a Burning Man veteran. 4 years running.
what i'm trying to do is put together a combat veteran theme camp. a place where people can come to meet us and hang out with us and we can tell our war stories and answer questions, no propaganda, no BS, just real shite. mainly to break down this invisible wall between the liberal left and the military right.
anyway, i need to have some really tolerant vets there that can hear contradicting ideas and have an intellectual discussion about things and maybe affect some public opinion or at least walk away without having a bar fight.
so, here's the thought: 2 GP mediums. One with a bar and some couches and areas to lounge, where everyone (non vets and vets) can hang out. We'll have to take turns bar tending. It's pretty much a 24 hour party, but we can "close" from 4am -10 am or so. Depending on who wants to do what. The other GP medium will be open for sleeping for those who are flying in and don't need to or don't bring a tent. And for food, or whatever else we think we might need. I would also love to get a hold of some chutes and some poles and set up some shady areas for us to be able to hang out outside and for some shelter for those who bring their 2/3/4 man tents. RVs are welcome too.
i'd like to set up a couple of 5 gallon showers and if we have enough people and supplies, I'd love to do a breakfast and dinner. Pancakes/waffles, quesadillas or a goulash or something... lunches everyone would be on their own.
i have 10 people already, most of them people who have served with me, and coming from the east coast. I'd like to have about 20. But the more we have, the better experience we can offer.
i am now out and working for the Navy and living in Monterey, CA. My parents live in Reno, so I can come out that way for meetings and plannings, which honestly it will take some planning.
let me know if you're interested or know someone who might be and even if you just have some questions, i would really love to see this come together and find some new vet buddies and have a new desert experience.
i'm on facebook more than here, but I'll come back here to reply to anyone. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?id=11 ... 59&index=1

recruiting campers
no doubt... hoping for some others with desert experience to figure out the set up and chutes and poles in the terrain and weather. and some jungle experience would be good for some variety in the story telling. :D
Hopefully i'll just be giving a home to those who don't have one yet . maybe i should have put the subject as "looking for homeless vets".

combat
of course... we'd love to have you visit.
wouldn't dream of taking you away from somewhere you are happy, but you'd be welcome to camp with us, i'm sure you have your own "war stories".
and if you have any suggestions or ideas, they are definitely welcome as well.

Not a vet, but I like your idea.
To avoid confusion with your ePlaya moniker, you may wish to be aware that there is already a Booby Bar in Black Rock City -- a long established bar in Terminal Village, near 3 and A.
See you on the Playa!
Edit: I see the proprietress of the Terminal City Booby Bar beat me to it!

booby bar
yeah, can't seem to change my name. i think i had to add something because there already was the user name. so i added booby bar to differentiate myself from all the other hot shots out there before i knew i couldn't change it.
but i am a full supporter of the booby bar and all things booby. i'm ... like a good sports bra.

This will be my second and my wife's first burn. We'd be coming from Virginia so if you have some people already headed out from here that might work for us. We haven't made any solid plans yet though.
