Planet Earth returns in 2010!

Post by Patamon » Mon Feb 01, 2010 3:43 pm

Hey 80's dance fans!

Planet Earth, the 80s Dance Camp on the 9:00 plaza last year will be returning in 2010! We look forward to seeing you guys on the playa, it's way to early to know where we'll be yet, but we're really hoping we'll be on the plaza again this year.

Here is our theme lineup for 2010, as usual we'll also be playing videos each night, this year we've got a bunch of new ones for our new themes as well...

Sunday Night
Overature
Midnight - 2 or 3 am
(We'll be on when the gates open at midnight, playing anything any eveyrthing 80s, along with Music Videos, typically this is lightly attended as everyone is excitedly setting up tents and getting their dust on, but we'll be on for a few hours that night)

Monday Night
80s Pop Hits
8pm - 3am
All the big pop hits from the 80s, everything from Madonna to Michael Jackson and all of the big one hit wonders.

Tuesday Night
Headbangers Ball
8pm - 3am
You guys asked for it last year, so we're doing it this year. The first Planet Earth Headbangers Ball! All the Hard Rock classics from the 80s. From early 80s heavy metal (Foreigner, AC/DC, Def Leppard etc.) to late 80s Glam Rock. If you're a head-banger, this is your night!

Wednesday Night
Goth/Industrial
8pm - 3am
Once again we'll be doing our traditional wednesday goth/Indy night. Expect to hear plenty of Sisters of Mercy, Bahhaus, Front 242, Tones on Tail, Siouxsie, & more.

Thursday Night
Guilty Pleasures
8pm - 3am
On this night we're playing the best dance hits from the 1970 to 2010, this night you'll hear it all! From 70's Disco to 80's New Wave right up to Lady Ga Ga, the DJ's will be playing all of their guilty pleasures this night, something you don't want to miss.

Friday Night
New Wave hits & Friday night videos.
8pm - 3am
All your favorite 80s new wave bands will be featured this night, everything from Blonde to Depeche mode, Duran Duran, the Smiths, and so on. We'll also be heavy on Videos this night for you fans of the old MTV videos from the 80s.

Saturday Night
Burning Down the House
After the Burn (11pm-ish) until Dawn.
Like last year we'll be going to the wee hours on Burn night, if our DJ's can keep standing we'll go til dawn, playing all the best 80's we can get our dusty hands on. This night will begin a little later, right after the Man falls we'll crank up the lights and sound.

There's our schedule! Looking forward to seeing you guys in Planet Earth again in 2010! As we get closer to the event we'll post the DJ schedule on this thread as well, that's still solidifying but look for your favorite PE Dj's to be returning, including: Xfile, Sparkle, Veganblack, Laetor, Willow and more!

So one night last year, I wandered and wandered, TRYING to find Planet Earth for the goth night. I got lost and frustrated, trying to find it, then find my way "home"...found out a day or two later it's around the corner from where I was camped.

But, I did have a nice moment of respite when some camp was playing Interpol, and I got away from the gd techno for a bit.

Thanks for saying it first Clarity.

Any respectible Head Banger wouldn't be caught dead listenening to that crap or anything that falls into "glam rock" category either.

Def Leppard also? seriously ?

I applaud the effort, although its still hard for me to think of the 80's as retro. Of course, when everyone else was into Duran Duran, I was deep into Zeppelin and the Doors.

If you're gonna do guilty pleasures though, you can throw some RATT and Quiet Riot in there, maybe a little Twisted Sister. Anything but Night Ranger, kay?

Ozzy & Scorpions would be great too.
