I've had several inquiries about theme camps that weren't placed this year. How do you know? Has that list, which camps/villages will be placed and where, been released yet?

What the website says:

This is the list of Theme Camps requesting placement in Black Rock City's reserved sections for 2010, who chose to be listed publicly. This is not a list of officially accepted or placed theme camps, it's a preview of what you'll find when you get to Black Rock City. Some settling of contents may occur when the City Planners allocate the space

You may be getting wishful thinkers or even the not very bright.

The map hasn't even come out yet... one generally precedes the other. No list yet I'm sure.

So, at one point they were telling people they hadn't been selected before they told people they had been. But I can't remember if that was last year with camps or this year with art grants.

Now that you mention it, Fishy, I do recall that last year there was info sent out to unplaced camps before the placement list was released. It was a cause for much consternation.

About a week from now the way I understand it. Though I was surprised to see a 2010 camp listing for the WWW. I guess that's one step closer!

I will give you five to one that we see the placement list on Thursday. In fact, I have a strange feeling it will also have the street names. I also have a feeling that very few camps will get the rejection letter. Maybe I am just an optimist or maybe.....

Rumor has it (and I'm not saying where I picked up this rumor, but it was not on E-playa), that there will be no Placement List published this year. Instead, there will be individual e-mails to each Theme Camp over a period of a day or two. The reason is that some Theme Camps want a degree of secrecy as to their location.
That's all I know.

That would be a bummer. Allot of folks use that data to create cool interactive maps and whatnot.

I suppose they will force everyone into using the API crap over at the playaevents google earth site gizmo. Increases the learning curve for all the spreadsheet wizards.

Yeah, I did... I couldn't turn my back on bringing Live music to the Playa, I guess it's just in me. That and I have teamed up with some Remarkable people - We have converted a 40' Shipping Container into a Post Apocalyptic Chill Space/Art Gallery/ Party Zone, called Pandora. This will be in Tranmorphagon This year, hopefully at 3 & Esp again. We'll keep the light on for ya, please stop by and have a drink in the Bar!

Well, I just did receive an email from my Sector Coordinator. It was general information about their issues with the email efficiency and And ANNNND,,, Confirmation of Placement!

Since it was a sector-wide email there were no specifics of location other than we are in the 7:30 Amber sector. Progress! She said she will get that info out ASAP.

ok. I don't get it. why do some camps want to be anonymous? I thought the point of the theme camp was to be an "interactive" part of the community. ????
