Hi there,
I'm bringing my parents with me this year for their first experience on the playa. Is there a suggestion of a camp they can join with other fun people who want the community and also chill a bit? My camp is at 9:30 and Esplanade and is a bit too much for my parents who will want a little peace and quiet at night yet participate in a cool camp.
The parents/kids camp is a bit too far out, I was hoping for something closer to the 6-9 range.
Thanks for your help!
Camp for fun parents
That's a tough one.
9 is the unofficial red light district
7:30 has a lot of free love going on as well
The quiet side of things is the 5 side. Look for AEZ, Kidsville, Hushville etc.
Ever since they installed the plazas and theme camp spoke streets there really has not been quiet anywhere.
Maybe 8-8:30 a few streets back?
Good luck.

Well, Kidsville only if they plan on renting/borrowing/leasing some grandkids to stay here, and they need to make the deal asap, reg. closes on 8-1.Token wrote:That's a tough one.

My camp is directly on 9:00 plaza. Busy neighborhood. We've got people representing every age bracket from about 20yrs to 85yrs. I've been toying around with bringing my own parents (almost 60yrs now) and the noise/dust aren't what worry me. The noise/dust/madness are actually what I think they will enjoy! What I think would be a deal breaker is the stress on their bodies. Neither of them are in good enough shape to camp.. even car camping would be a bit of a stretch for them. RVs are, unfortunately, the only way for them. And even more so for the people in our camp in their 80s! If your parents are into the "Burning Man scene" then just try to take care of their personal bodily comfort and don't worry too much about the noise. The noise comes with the city. And unless your parents are arch-conservatives I bet you they have some wild stories you never heard. The Burn will be a chance to relive some of that.

Heck with that! The very fact that they are even going to the playa suggests they are young acting parents. I took my twenty something year olds to burning man, they didn't take me. I was a young 47 on my first burn. They may just surprise you. But be prepared if they decide to let their freak flags wave, ya never know! Buy them some good earplugs.

I love that burners share the Playa with their parents! Seeing it through their eyes is only second to seeing it through the eyes of kids.
Sadly, my folks are in no condition for the Playa, but I've often hung out with the baby boomer+ crowd. And I must say They Are Awesome!
