I don't care who anyone here is. I care to receive helpful info on what I'm seeking out for Burning Man theme camps in 2011. And I got my answers. Later!

If you thought my question was basic and vague, then you could ask what I meant by what I said. I've been on lots of forums, no need to be rude on here just because you thought the question was basic and vague. The title of this forum is 2011 Theme Camps, not 2011 Theme Camps for Rude Flaming Posts. And this is the only Burning Man e-group attached to the website, so there's no need for the public to assume that those posting on here wouldn't be helpful and friendly.

I'm debating with myself whether or not to comment.

On one hand, resetting expectations of interaction on these boards might be helpful.

But based on the replies I've already seen, I doubt any good advice would be accepted as just that.

So I'm going to give some general advise for first time burners.

Never expect your expectations to be as you expected. In the end, you are the only one responsible for what you take away from any experience whether it is here or out on the Playa.

No one owes you a good expedience, but you can learn from them, maybe learning laugh at yourself is a good talent to cultivate here.

Try to remember this when you are yelling at the guy in front of you to sit down so you can get a better view of the burn.

Huggima: I'm sure you realized by now Eplaya should really be named Easshole. Most people are expressing their radical inner Troll. Just ignore them like faties in the midwest. Ohh yea, ignore me too.

Paypal sucks, so do all the other payment processing systems. But you can do a combination of checks and direct transfer to the bank account. Your not getting a non-profit (please don't, use the money to buy me booze instead) which is the only reliable way to avoid the fees.

Ohh, remember to have fun with the Trolls, they are great playmates once you get used to their bad breath and wrinkly balls.

I would also avoid Paypal. They have recently frozen our camp account without giving us any clear cut reason why nor any clear cut way to fix it. I would probably opt for personal checks or cash if possible.

I'm still stuck on the "for profit" versus "no profit" camps. My mind just went kinda PHHHHHHHHHTTttttttttt after reading that. Personally, the last thing I want in our camp is the exchange of $$$. People doing stuff, creating stuff and bringing stuff causes no need for fees or worry about taxes.

Everybody has their own way,,,,, I never realized there was a profit to be made tho'.

I could be wrong, but I think what was being implied is that some of the larger camps set up a business entity that owns the assets of the camp and helps to mitigate some of the liability. Not to make a profit. So, in that case setting up the entity as a "not for profit" has certain benefits in that regard. Having an entity own the assets insures the camp's survival as people join and leave the camp as well.

Well looking over Huggima's initial post regarding the fundraiser for her(?) camp, "Chakralicious Camp"

I'm impressed with the number of businesses that were involved with it.
I imagine BurningMan has a very good fitting target demographic for this camp.

Given this, it would be best to set this camp up as an LLC.

. . . Hey I just got a great idea . . . What if you set up a retreat package with BurningMan as the backdrop setting. All your customerscampers would pay ahead of time and they would have access to your workshops and seminars as well as all the distractions of BurningMan. The entry ticket could be part of the package.

Another question:

Has any camp ever been asked to leave because they were commercing, such as the example I gave above?

Think about this as well, If a camp is formed as an LLC, then it i s treated legally as an entity. Now if a camp is found to be doing things that would get an individual ejected from BRC would this also be applied to a camp?

How do you eject a camp? Would the camp members be allowed to stay?

Where do you draw the line and who draws it?

And since that event's long past, and nobody commented on it previously, it's a little late to grouse about it.
