I am going alone this year as I could not secure a ticket for my fiance. I figure I should keep as busy so I am looking to join a theme camp that is a little bit closer to all the hussle and bussle. I am a 25 year old woman from Miami FL living outside of LA for the past few years. I have been out to the playa 3 years in the past... 05,06 and 07. Once I moved I had to get to work securing my future and Im now ready to return home.
I am a web designer and pretty smart when it comes to all things computers. I have done body/face painting for camps in the past during burning man, regional burns and for other events. I have my own painting supplies minus the latex and airbrushing equipment and paint. Only equipped for free hand but I am familiar with all including henna. I can spin poi well enough to be toward the middle... Im not awesome but Im not scared to do wraps and I do know enough tricks to be confused with a professional. I did at one time also do this for local events in south florida. I can be of great help setting things up for display and decorating camps. Im really good with people and have volunteered in the past as a greeter and bartender.
I am not opposed to paying to join a camp either I would just like to find a camp that can use some of my talents and also offer some help to me as I will be on my own and I just recently knew I could make the trip and have not prepared well enough. I apologize as this is a preparation event but I really wanted to come back this year so if theres something I can do for your camp in exchange for some helpful neighbors Id be very happy to put in anything I have.
Offering my services to a camp in need
Re: Offering my services to a camp in need
Hi ,
We are Pro Leisure Tour at 4:30 and Esplanade . Our entertainment czar mentioned you and I agree we have a home for you if you want . We have a bar with DJ's and GoGo dancers (I think ) and can offer you a place to put your tent , power , BBQ, Microwave but more importantly a good group who work together for each other. Having said that I should also say I have been presenting this camp for years , this year we have mostly new members , every one active and involved. We require nothing , you can contribute your talents if you wish (tell me what you need ) or tend bar occasionally and of course help keep the camp picked up (we also accept alcohol). The back camp is as private as week can make it and we should have an art car if I can get it finished(I hate fiberglass).
let me know by PM.

Re: Offering my services to a camp in need
Hi, this is Dr. Gin from Art Model Camp in the Alternative Energy Zone. We hold daily figure drawing sessions on the playa. We supply art materials, shade, and the most eclectic set of models you can imagine. We do anything from 1 minute to 30 minute poses, usually 10 or 15 minute poses.
We've had a couple of our female models suddenly have to cancel on us due to family obligations, so we have space for a couple more campers. We're ideally looking for folks willing to model, which keeps our sessions going uninterrupted, but we'd welcome another artist. The camp is mostly older Burners, including a Ranger, is low maintenance and low drama, and the AEZ is a quiet generator-free zone. Generally we ask our campers to pose for a couple of 30 minute shifts during the week, and/or be available to fill in for missing models, but having someone help with signups, setting up the space, making sure the next model on the board is ready, etc. would also be great.
If you've already found a place to camp, don't hesitate to stop by to draw regardless. We'll be at 6:35 and Funeral in the AEZ.
