I thought the thing with Burning Man was everyone gets out of it what they put into it, or has their own view of it -- whether it's Tai Chi (or chai tea, yum) at dawn or a 5-day 4/4 thump naked hallucination, and everything in between.
Never mind that.
Why would anyone want to see someone's gear get trashed by some wanker on purpose?
I'm not a big fan of folk music or drum circles, but I wouldn't applaud ruining their gear.
It's one thing if amps and mixers get clogged with dust or struck by lightning, but but someone intentionally fucking it up just to do it is no good. [edit] If you're spinning and you get struck by lightning, I think that's instant "permanent legend in everything" status.
I was shooting a big, pretentious jazz festival in Connecticut. As soon as the headliner, Sonny Rollins, took the stage the heavens opened and angrily threw the most bone-crushing, Biblical thunderstorm I ever remember. Add to it this was under a tent in a polo/fairgrounds.
"I knew it was wrong, but I did it anyway."
Jesus fuckhole, what the fuck was that?
"Playa dust might be the cleanest, most corrosive filth you'll ever love," Savannah said.
