Yeah, but perception v. reality. It's attributed to homosexuality. I find the idea of concrete also to be particularly bizarre.Snow wrote:An ex of mine was an ER nurse, and man were there ever lots of people comming in all the time with things lost up their asses. One song the dog is most certainly going to sing to Georgie is this one, but with the name substituted and the lyrics changed:

Wheel of Fame

It occurred to me that I can't just offer some push buttons to play the vignettes and that the participant interaction should be more fun. Easy, familiar games have always worked for me in past interactive art, so here's a new idea...
What's the one thing the Georgie Boy character misses since his fall from Broadway? His name up in lights! Therefore, we'll have a Broadway style show marquis with his name spelled in dotted letters like a green room vanity mirror. Special thanks to Lightnin' for suggesting LED's mounted inside ping pong balls to diffuse them.
Participants can hit the big, lighted "spin" button to sequence the smaller letters of Georgie Boy's name surrounding the names of the vignette categories. When the spinning letters come to a stop, the corresponding large letter is lit, and a vignette from the corresponding category is played as the animatronic Georgie Boy interacts with his dog, Smoochie Pooch.
When his name is finally fully up in lights, Smoochie sings him a song, with lots more animatronic stuff coming to life in his Motel room in an overly happy, creepy, dream-like sequence of delusional delight.
There's lots of influence from our 2008 project, Zsu Zsu here. I think the crowd cheering and hoping for a particular letter will prove entertaining and engaging.

Good idea, Unjon. Maybe some "Awwwe" when they lose.
Here's a math quiz for all:
If the 10 panel spinning "wheel" is truly random and the redundant letters light both (for example, landing on an "O" would light that letter in both the words "Georgie" and "Boy", what is the average number of spins it would take to light up all the letters in the phrase "Georgie Boy". Good luck!

Thanks, Bounce. That helps.
Lee: Georgie Boy poster will be up tomorrow at Reno Decom thanks to Magic and Lightnin'. We're meeting at Fixit's to grab hammerhead at 3 PM, then set it up in the alley, put some lights on it, break for dinner, then let it spin whilst we play all night. Don't miss the cast and crew photo shoot at midnight in front of the hammer-- wear a watch!

Before this can be accurately answered, one must know if the multiple letters ( "g" "e" and "o") all must be obtained from their respective slot only, or from either available slot, and also if once a letter is lit, that letter gets "locked out" or not.Mister Jellyfish Mister wrote:...Here's a math quiz for all:

If there is a lock out, then the answer is 10.dragonfly Jafe wrote:Before this can be accurately answered, one must know if the multiple letters ( "g" "e" and "o") all must be obtained from their respective slot only, or from either available slot, and also if once a letter is lit, that letter gets "locked out" or not.Mister Jellyfish Mister wrote:...Here's a math quiz for all:

P(A) = The Number Of Ways Event A Can Occur

The total number Of Possible Outcomes
If a letter can only be selected once, and the wheel does not stop on a previously selected number... equation equals 1
so, number of letters equals number of spins.
If the wheel randomly stops on any space on each spin, is there an average number of times the wheel must be spun? I give up.

Okay then 10 is the minimum and infinity is the maximum. But that's not good. It may not be 13, but I don't think it goes as high as 20. My experience of these sorts of problems is that the answer turns out to be surprisingly small.Elorrum wrote: If the wheel randomly stops on any space on each spin, is there an average number of times the wheel must be spun? I really should have asked my father. Tuesday morning...

Yes on the "lock out".
No on the "respective slot only". For example: If you spin the wheel and it lands on either of the letter "G"'s, It will light both of the letter G's in the word "Georgie".
Elorrum: The wheel spins at random every time and can land on letters that are already lit and they will just remain lit and Georgie will encourage you to spin again.
I hope that helps. Wow, talk about a brain teaser-- oh Georgie, you always were and old tease!

The odds of getting a certain letter is the same every time...1 in 10.
How many spins it will take to light it up will always be random because of this, you could get it in 10 tries, or you could spin it 1000 times and still not get all 10 letters.

Yes. But we're after the average. I know there's a way to calculate it. Maybe it involves Pascal's Triangle, but I dont' know the way to express the problem, so I can't find the solution.oneeyeddick wrote:The odds of getting a certain letter is the same every time...1 in 10.

The multiple letters make this an interesting mathematical quandry. Like was mentioned before first spin you are gonna get a letter no matter what.
Second spin, well the probability depends on whether you hit a "double" letter or not on the first spin. Hmmmmm...
