Hi all,
I'm looking for people interested in collaborating in creating a live music venue on the playa. I've got a solid crew of musicians and sound engineers here in Santa Cruz, CA, and we'd like to create a sweet spot for bands to share their gifts on the playa.
Here are the main pieces of the puzzle. Please drop me a line if you have any materials or skills that can help make this a reality!
- Large dome / structure
- Stage
- Reliable, sufficient power source (greener the better!)
- Serious PA system and cables!
- Light show
- Sound Engineers
- Dance floor, or at least rugs
- Gear loaders/roadies!
- Logistical know-how for getting a good spot on the playa
- Promotions
- Bands!
- Anything else to help create a vibe conducive to sharing and enjoying live music
Did I forget anything?
Drop a line, and let's work together to make this thing happen!

Sounds like a good idea. How many of the above listed pieces of the puzzle do you already have, and have you ever been to burning man before?

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Just a random idea, but if you where planing on having live music in the late afternoon to early evening. You could use the dead time of morning to afternoon to host speakers. Sort of like the Chautauqua Lectures. If anything, it'll help promote the space during the event for evening shows.
I have a little bit of Savannah with me. Shhh...

Hey, our band, GravyBrain, has played there the last three years. I don't know much about the PA stuff, but I know what it takes as a musician. More than willing to give you some tips. Have you been to Burning Man before?
