GPS hide and seek

Post by Dardanian » Fri Jul 30, 2004 7:05 am

I'm no expert, but I will be learning the same thing once I get out there (I just bought mine.) Since it goes down to 3 meters I'm going to try to practice by putting in the grids of different camps I find interesting. If you want to hook up to compare notes let me know!

I'm looking forward to playing hide and seek with one of my campmates by reporting grids over our radio. :-) You can play too if you want to get in on our frequency.

Equipped with GPS and Radio

Post by iwantchai » Sun Aug 01, 2004 3:54 pm

Hi!

I'm no expert, but have been using my GPS for nearly two years now.
I suggest checking out www.geocaching.com if you enjoy "scavenger hunting."

Anyways, I'd love to get in on the frequency and share waypoints with you.

I would love to show you what I know! I'm doing some blogging the burn stuff with thingster, a geo/blogging/event system

Please let me know what you guys think! We've worked really hard to produce this, and will be providing maps of the playa.

NYM: Who are you camping with? Where will the thingster station be located?

I saw your post on tribe.net about this and was intrigued.
So I'm guessing people would view interesting site by going to my profile
at http://thingster.org/username ?

Thingster will be available from any laptop with WiFi on the playa, as well as at public terminals at Gigsville and The Brane.

The domain name may change when we get to the playa, but basically the way to reach it is http//thingster.org/username, for example http://thingster.org/nym/ is all my files.

In additon, if you want to see my burning man content, you can see it by visiting my tag, http://thingster.org/nym/bm/

If you wanted to view everyone's burning man content, you can go to http://thingster.org/tag/bm/ instead.

Feel free to call me at (626) 644-5508, I will help as much as I can!

please jebus, say there will be playa pancakes!

Sounds like the Brane is the spot, I know a buncha people that'll be camping there. I haven't seen the camp map yet, but is there a central meeting spot we can hook up at?

Also, papabear, in case you hadn't heard, we're doing a playa dinner party on thurs that you should come to. ;)

Wassssup juju?

So ya know as time gets closer, we can all make a spot to meet up on the playa... as for the dinner. I might have to take a rain check on dinner. I might be out flying my kite with the Tethered Aviation Camp. They have a meet up time to break a world record with kites in the air.

So we'll see.

GPS fun is good though... and PlayaCake with rise to battle the dust hahahahhah.

must work now. much to do.

I want to educate, bring digicameras and gpses, with data cables.

We should have an event at the beginning of the event, and then again on friday or sunday. More details soon...
