I need a place to live in SF

Post by jamison » Wed Sep 24, 2003 3:45 pm

I figure after seeing the post looking for gynecologist stirrups that this will seem pedestrian by comparison.

So here's what's up:

I currently live in Santa Cruz, and my roommates are going to be moving out in about a month and a half. This is just the kick in the ass I need to get me out of Santa Cruz and try someplace else, like San Francisco.

I've been looking around Craig's List and find it a bit daunting. I look at postings that don't give much more detail then "12x10 room, good view," and I'm not just looking for a room, I'd like to find a household with creative people who I can get along with, maybe even be friends with. I figured other burners would understand.

So here's the skinny on me and maybe someone out there will see this and something will click.

I'm 27, a professional user interface designer (I design web applications) with a nice steady stable job in the silicon valley (I'm employed with good credit), I'm a creative type and want to live with other creative people (need another body to help with your theme camp? art car?)

I'm gay and I'm somewhat athletic: I love riding around on my bike, surfing and swimming. Another thing I keep seeing in the housing posts is that I'd get a room in a furnished place, but I'm the one who's pretty much furnished our entire living and dining room right now, so I'd love to meet some people who're in need of a nice dining room set and a good home theater sound system.

I'm hoping to find something close to the Castro or Dolores Park. I basically want to be within walking distance of the Castro as well as the Bart stations along Mission.

It's either that, or I stay in Santa Cruz and get a new roommate (or roommates) for my current place, which is a really nice townhouse in Downtown Santa Cruz. It's two blocks off Pacific Ave, 3 stories, spacious living/dining area, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bath (each bedroom has it's own bathroom) and a garage (I'm torn about leaving it, cause it is so nice)

Ok, well, back to work.

Don't leave out Duboce Triangle/Lower Haight St. One of the best parts of The City and the rents are much lower compared to the Classtro.

We have a nice room available in a really, really nice house. It is in Oakland (the unscary and culturally vibrant Lake Merritt/Grand area), but we are about 15 minutes from the city by car, and there is BART VERY nearby and casual carpool picks up a block from here. PM me for more info, if you don't absolutely have your heart set on the city proper.

Yes, we do need a living room set, as the guy who's moving out is taking all our furniture with him. The available bedroom is unfurnished.

This is also cheaper than you'll find in the city, and we're burners, and we're nice.

(If anyone else is in the market... let me know. Available Nov. 1st)
