Black Rock Rendezvous 2014 - Memorial Day Weekend

For those who are interested in what goes on in the desert for the other 51 weeks, the Black Rock Rendezvous will be held on the edge of the playa again this Memorial Day weekend, May 23 to 26th.
This event is typically attended by several hundred people and is a great way to learn about, and give something back to the Black Rock Desert.

There are some pretty interesting one's this year.
I'm partial to the (self-guided) Geocache tour.

I think were all leaning to the black rock point tour.

It must be so surreal and yet peaceful to visit the playa when it's empty. I know this isn't the case for this Rendezvous, but the idea of going to BRC in not-late August is so intriguing.

I was out on the playa last weekend. It was windy, but no dust.
Its so peaceful, beautiful, we were the only car out there at that time.
I love driving on the playa, look down at the speedo, you are going 60 mph, seems like your only doing 15mph, playa is so big and smooth you cant judge speed or distances.

Very cool, fernley. If it wasn't 2700 miles away, I'd be there to check out stars at night. One thing I'd like to get around to this year - ride real deep or to the fence and check out the sky.

Actually, there is supposed to be a major event during the Rendezvous event. It looks like it will happen between 1am and 2am playa time. I read somewhere that it might be a "Meteor Storm" instead of a shower. Even at 2700 miles away, we might be able to see the same stuff..

I hit the playa last night/this morning. It's a little damp in places but easily drivable from 12 mile to Trego to Cassidy Mine
