You know there CowboyAngel, you might try putting a little 'swing' into your 'Western', if you know what I'm sayin'. Not competing? What's a matter, dearie? Afraid of being left in my dust? Join the crowd...

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! BOO-HOO! UPDATE!

Tragedy, girls! I hate to say this but it looks like Sensei may not make the pageant this year...

In my heart of hearts, there's only one thing I've ever wanted more than the title Miss Black Rock 2004, and that's the opportunity to play last chair flute in a drunken, unrehearsed marching band...

Why not both, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. They burn the man Sat. night, and everything else happens on Thursday. I know it's not fair, but that's how Larry planned it all out years ago...

The Little Black Dress Parade (which I believe is hosted by the Conglomerate, but I could be talkin' out of my tiara here) is the high-water mark of the Burning Band's concert season, and unfortunately seems to be held at the exact same time as the pageant... Again, not fair, but that's the way Larry wants it, etc. etc. etc.

I know what you're all thinking... Why not hold both together? To this I say, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MINDS? That catfight would rival the Watts riots...

I want you all to know that I will be with you all in spirit, if not in bitchin' bod, as you compete for what you all damn well know would have been 2nd place...

Sincerely,

Sensei

p.s. Count on me showing up Tues. for the sash workshop anyway!

Just need to add:

1) I sure as hell don't speak for the band. SINdy gets that duty, to often great embarrasment, I'm sure.
2) I don't think anybody REALLY speaks for the Conglomerate, do you? I could be wrong... they've got a website....
3) Miss BRC speaks for Miss BRC, but you all knew that.

Ok, I need to do #1) over again...

We are proud to have SINdy speak for us. SINdy is the one who has to take the blame after all the shows; as well as answering to any local, state or federal charges the band may have incurred.

it looks like the LBDP parade is a half hour after the prelims start on thursday. the prelims are bound to last more than a half hour, but if you REALLY wanna be in the pageant on friday afternoon, as you say you do, i heartily suggest you stop by before. probably during. and possibly after, as well.

march bands have a special place int he heart of most inhabitants of asylum, where the prelims take place. our own hungry march band is well loved, and one of the prelim judges is in the band.

do not give up hope, sensei! miss black rock city must be prepared for many things. rise to the occasion!

i think you all should stop on by asylum, thats what i think!

Sorry guys, I don't even know why you are trying against Sensei. I've seen pictures Really. Maybe I should be Sensei's stage mother. Because unfortunately, i'm not like Ivy... let's see, how was it put? Something about wrire-rimmed-glasses-wearin'-evergreen-goin'-poli-sci-majoring....

but, as in 'drop dead gorgeous,' i will do everything in my power to make sure Sensei wins.

Especially if he lets me go shopping with him.

why? because the pageant is open to everyone, my sweet. thats why! show up to the prelims on thursday, have a Dust Storm Wear ensemble, a Playa Formal Wear ensemble ready for the main event, plus a talent and the ability to speak in a microphone, and youre good to go! no matter what you look like.

Fuck this! I'm sold...!! I'm going out this weekend to find myself a little black number... er... a large, little black number, and I will strut my stuff. I haven't done this in years, but I'm ready this year... although my son will probably shoot me... or drive home without me...

Yeah, well, fuck that. I'm in!!!

Where can I get some size 13 'Fuck-Me' pumps? In Portland? Any ideas?

Announcing the MBRC 2004 Raffle

Post by MBRC » Mon Jul 19, 2004 11:38 am

THE MISS BLACK ROCK CITY 2004 RAFFLE!

Do you like to gamble? Your $5 per ticket will support FOUR playa events that challenge the ideas of traditional beauty, PLUS you can dare to dream of winning up to $600! how great is that, right before leaving for the playa?!

This raffle is perfect for this project because $600 is exactly the budget for all Miss Black Rock City events on the playa this year: The Sashmaking Workshop headed by Paula at the Smoochdome (we are aiming to have materials for up to 1000 sashes on the playa this year!), the Illumination Wear Special Event (tbd), the Pageant Prelims at all of Asylum Village, and the MAIN PAGEANT EVENT at Disorient! woo woo!

No other grant funds have been given for this project. The idea of the project is to have a pageant for the common person - well, common BURNER, that is! I will not be getting rich off this raffle, all costs will go towards the project and not for personal expenses. But whoever wins first prize is gonna be pretty fucking happy!

Drawing to be held at Asylum Happy Hour in NY, July 28th, 2004 7pm
(winner need not be present to win)

1st Prize: 50% of the raffle kitty - meow! up to $600!!!*
2nd Prize: $10
3rd Prize: $5

*minus $15 for the 2nd & third prizes :)

COST PER TICKET: $5 cash (preferred)

optional: send paypal to [email protected], adding $0.50 for paypal fees. PLEASE NOTE how many tickets you want, i will email you back with your ticket numbers as confirmation.

Good luck, people! Please forward far and wide. Details on the four events will be released this week, so stay tuned!

what gives? i mean, maybe it's not commerce, exactly, but it still stinks of greenbacks. and charging for tickets?

bad playa karma...
