2005 was my first burn, and i had the usual (or unusual) incredible, undescribable, life-altering experience that many first-timers have.
two things i want to do differently next year:
1) arrive earlier
2) get involved
to that end, id like to connect with some local burners in atlanta so i can learn more about the best ways to get involved and maybe help some people out for next year.
"Is there anybody out there?"
Are there any burners in Atlanta?

Answering the larger question......
Thanks to those of you who PM'ed me about this. I thought i would post one of my replies because i think many of you could offer some suggestions.
"I had gone to the regionals-GA part of the burningman website, and had sent email inquiries to all the listed email addresses, but i've never gotten a response.
After my experience this year, ive really felt the need for some decompression, but, obviously dont live near any of the organized events, so ive been hoping to connect with some local burners. i'd be happy for you to forward my email address to any that you know... [email protected]
regarding getting to BM early, since you started the rambling........
my problem is that i do want to get there on monday, and i do want to get involved with a camp and meet more people, but......
i came this year with a group of friends from LA, (2 couples) (my wife stayed home w/ the kids) who rented a mack daddy RV. We had an awesome parking spot (6:00 & Delirium) and had a great time because we all had fun together and had a great central location. the downside was that there werent a lot of other people directly around us (we were across from the DMV) so we kind of kept to ourselves. i dont think my friends will be able to get there early next year either, but i will want to be with them when they get there, so the dilemna is....
Once i get involved with a camp, im sure i wont want to leave, so can i find a camp to get involved with that would save room for a big RV that wont get there till, maybe, thursday? A camp that has power or doesnt mind a generator running all the time? And, if im going to end up in an RV, I'd rather avoid bringing a tent out to BM altogether, but i will need a place to stay from the time i get there till my friends in the RV get there.
so, in summary, yes i want to get there early and be involved and meet more people, but yes, I also enjoyed the a/c, showers, and cameraderie with my friends. surely it must be possible to do both."

Atlanta Burners
Hello All ,
I would love to see some other burners from this area. This year ( my first) i rented an RV with someone from the internet and one other friend. We have a great time but I would like to be more involved with a theme camp or larger group of people.

FINDING THE HIDDEN ATLANTA BURNERS.......
So far, what i've found in the Atlanta area is a monthly "meet & greet" put on by Chwdog, the guy who organizes Transformus, a 3-day Burning Man type event in the North Carolina mountains.
I attended last thursdays m&g and the people were great. Pretty small crowd and many were B.M. virgins, but im looking forward to the next one.

Anybody who's in the Southeast should check out the
Southeast Regional Burn at http://www.transformus.com
The site has a link to our discussion groups.
Transformus happens the third weekend of July near Asheville, NC.
Would love to hear from others in the Southeast Region.
We have a nice year-round cyber community, and have smaller
informal events throughout the year in the Atlanta, Charlotte, and Raleigh areas. There is also a Florida branch in our family tree.
