11/6: LA Burner Community Pirate-Related Burning Burner Burn

Post by Buster Friendly » Tue Oct 04, 2005 9:47 am

In observation of the 287th anniversary of the death of Blackbeard the Pirate, a massive 3-dimensional Jolly Roger* will be burned at Dockweiller beach on Sunday, Nov 6th at the Southern-most fire ring from 6 to 10 p.m.

The LACRPBBB will also feature:
-Stonehaven Fireballs courtesy of Burn LA
-Two Burn Areas!
-An "Am I Arrgh, or Not?" costume contest

The entrance to Dockweiller SB is located off the end of West Imperial Highway, west of LAX. Once past the gate continue down the ramp and make left toward the parking lot's southern-most (left) end, then walk south (left again) to the last fire ring.

The beach and parking lot officially close at 10 p.m., though during winter months this is informally extended. There is street parking on PCH and foot access to the beach, but legal parking ends at 10p.m. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on this State Beach.

Bunnies, ninjas, ninja bunnies, clowns, zombies, sexy beekeepers, metro-Sasquatches and other put-on personas are equally welcome to attend, but those who are looking at this burn as an opportunity to perpetuate some made-up rivalry trip should probably find something better to do with their lives.

Bring FIREWOOD, something (or someone) to sit on, smore fixins, and your various LA Burner Community (LABC) related accessories. Those who drum and those who spin fire are invited to bring their gear. Tipping your local flammable art perpetrators is encouraged!

*This form of Jolly Roger is a Skull and Crossed bones design. Yes, it's not historically accurate, and since that fact has now been pointed out, there's no need to do it a again, aye?
