SF Decompression

Post by Josie Bento » Tue Oct 04, 2005 1:11 pm

This year was my first burn and I LOVED it!!! I know that there was much more for me to see/do/feel. I plan to go to the SF Decompression to keep the feeling alive. I was hoping for some help on how it works. What do I bring in with me? or just me.

They have a bar and I think they serve food there too (but it's pretty busy and I'm not sure what the wait is for the food). I'd bring:

1. Money
2. Your I.D.
3. water bottle/camel back type thing.
4. warm clothing for the evening (it's been getting pretty damn chilly at night, but nice and warm during the day).
5. blinkies
6. a costume
7. snacks
8. A small blanket to spread out in the park (if you're into that)

They close down the street and have a couple of stages with music and what not and on the street is a small park with several different theme camps/art set up.

Thank you for the reply! I am getting excited all over again!!! I think that burners are the nicest people I have ever met.

Oh. I forgot to ask about the entrance fee. Is it at the entrance only and at noon sharp like the site says?

XOXO

There is only one entrance (and a usually a long line to get in- sorta like the gate at BRC), but you can enter anytime after noon. I'm not sure what time they close the gate- but the event ends at around 2am, so you can figure the gate closes before then. (aren't I great with math?)

$10 "BRC attire", $20 "street". <rant> A really stupid division: one of our writers tends to wear basic shorts & tee's at BRC, so when he showed up at Decompression last year, the gate tried to charge him $20. Lets just say he paid $10 and leave it at that- the point is that not everyone wears big day-glo fake-fur outfits. Who decides if something is "BRC" enough- and how is that "Radical Inclusion". Charge one price for everyone, or base the difference on something tangible- less at the gate with your ticket stub or one of this years Piss Clear's or something, not your clothes.</rant>

<disclaimer> I am one of the people who wears bright day-glo outfits at BRC. I do it in SF as well. Have no idea what this has to do with anything. I think I'll go wax my muttonchops.</disclaimer>
