Looking for artist to build art car, Funding provided!
Hola Burning Man artist community!
You want to be an art car artist but do not have the money to fund construction: we can help!
We are a group of young, fun and successful entrepreneurs – all Burners. We have money but no time. We are looking for someone interested to build upon a great art car concept we came up with but have no time and experience to bring to life. When you hear what it is, you will LOVE IT, I assure. What we do know and can bring to the table are a couple of new lighting technologies that are just incredible and fit BM so well.
The skill sets involved will include mechanical / body work as well as artistic and creative abilities. The design is still flexible enough to be tailored to fit your specific skills/strength/weakness as well as get a lot of creative inputs from you. You will need to have or get access to a place to work and put all your tools for the project.
Oh, by the way, you would be building your ride as well as this will become your Burning Man art car: you ride with us! (I can assure you this actually translates into a lot of perks, but you will discover that later…)
Fell free to contact me via email and send me any credential/references/part work done if you have any.

Hey Virtual
I know a couple a guys that dont go to burningman, that were going to help us with our art car, but now since were getting married on playa, weve harnessed our finances elsewhere. But I havent had the heart to tell them they cant thrash a perfectly good truck-n-trailor into a art car! They were really looking forward to it.
They restore old cars for Hot august nights here in reno...I could present the idea to them...when I see them (not often enough, as neighbors...ya know)..........
Plus when the excitement of us doing an art car came about we didnt factor about us getting married, and not having a sober driver!!!!!!!!
who wants to be sober at your wedding? Champagne in the desert is so fun!

pinemom...our camp has two(at least) Artcars...both beautiful...one a 'party car', the other a gorgeous, SILENT copper 'boat'...the drivers LOVE having a purposeful destination; i'm betting that they'd love to 'limo' you and your wedding party to the ceremony and/or reception...and they'll provide the sober drivers!
virtual-have a team, where's the vehicle???

I can't quite decide whether this whole idea bothers me or not!
I suppose underwriting an art project, "car" or not, is basically a cool thing. Still, something bugs me about showing up on the Playa with a piece that you simply wrote a check for.
It's not that I'd go so far as to suggest you be prohibited from doing this... I'm just spilling my immediate gut reaction.

ok..its early and I only have the first part of one cup of coffee in me...Gaminwench...are you saying they would come pick us up and limo us there in "their art car" or one that I would have to build?gaminwench wrote:pinemom...our camp has two(at least) Artcars...both beautiful...one a 'party car', the other a gorgeous, SILENT copper 'boat'...the drivers LOVE having a purposeful destination; i'm betting that they'd love to 'limo' you and your wedding party to the ceremony and/or reception...and they'll provide the sober drivers!

p.s. this may be quite the ceremony too FYI...as we plan to leave 3:00 keyhole in mass "CHANTING" something (havent gotten that far yet)
nothing churchy mind you! But plan is this so far...go to Dr. pyro's M&G then back to camp...at dusk, out to burn platform of "Reno Controlled Burn" whereas Dave King will facilitate the ceremony! with fire spinners instead of flower girls.

Update on art car concept
pinemom, I am interested in talking to your guys, send me an email with contact info plz.
Everyone, this is updated info on us and our project:
What theme camp have we been part of?
Sol System 2003, 2004
Deep End 2005
Sol Flower 2006
Where are we from?
I reside in San Francisco, Hawaii and Orlando, my friends are from TX.
We all travel extensively so location of construction is not a problem. We’ll travel to schedule meetings, do brainstorming sessions and check progress.
Concept:
1. Art car with a capacity of 13-15 people
2. Theme will incorporate glowing fur outside; inside and on the controls (see pic of me wearing a glow fur coat and imagine an entire car like this)
3. Revolutionary light emitting fabric
4. Couches with light emitting fabric and custom animations
5. Open Bar, storage for supplied and Fridge
6. A Great Sound System
7. A Day Bed Lounge
Budget:
Once, a vehicle and a concept is locked down, we can get to it. No budget is set right now but money is not to much of a problem.
Skills needed:
The skill sets involved will include mechanical / body work as well as artistic and creative abilities. The design is still flexible enough to be tailored to fit your specific skills/strength/weakness as well as get a lot of creative inputs from you. You will need to have or get access to a place to work and put all your tools for the project.
Additional Benefits:
You would be building your ride as well as this will become your Burning Man art car: you ride with us! (I can assure you this actually translates into a lot of other perks, but you will discover that later…) Ideally, you want to be an art car artist but do not have the money to fund construction and that’s where we can help along with a great concept. We will provide 'project managment' and access to key ressources and novel technologies to make this happen.

Welcome on board
... and we'll even welcome you on board and try to turn your energy around with some good Champagne...
!
Reminds me of something I heard Jello Biafra say once on one of the spoken word albums..
Something about roads, bridges, schools, etc falling apart because there ain't no money. People sleeping in the streets because there ain't no money. Some people have so much money that they don't know what to do with it.
I really dislike those party barges. But whatever floats your barge, radical inclusion and all that.
As far as ArtCars I really dig that big wooden choo-choo. And hats off to whoever restored that steam tracktor!! The couches and cupcakes are dandy too.
Oh yeah.. almost forgot about the saw ripping through the playa at night.

I think there's a very big grey area between "art car" and "party barge". My criteria for whether a rig "belongs" on the playa is simple: If it makes you go "wow, that's cool!" and makes the playa scenery in general more interesting, if it makes you say "I'm glad I saw that", if you see it and think "I can't believe someone thought of that and actually built it and brought it all the way out here"... then, party barge or bicycle, it probably should be there.

Excellent idea Laurent! Don't mind the critics here. Your idea - or any art car idea for that matter - is positive for the event. All of us should encourage artistic ideas and implementation. So, count me in to contribute my GlowFur and lets take that puppy for a spin!
PS you look outstanding in that coat!

Art Car Funding
We have an RV Park about 160 miles from Gerlach (between Alturas and Klamath Falls). We have a 34' motor home that we want to convert into an art car. Could be two level vehicle (the frame can handle it). I also want to convert a couple of old travel trailers into a flat bed pull trailers/art cars. Making a train. I also have a 1994 dodge caravan that I was thinking of taking the cutting torch too. Funding for materials would be amazing. http://www.eaglesnestrvpark.com/

Really! see that would be cool! Thanx Gaminwench!
...Im going to learn to weld this year! so we might still do a small art car, we're going to be camping with Terminal village/city, proud bartenders of BOOBIE BAR!...but definatley am going to need a "ride" on wedding eve!
Must be slow car...unless we can get a train of sorts for all who are going to attend...which Im hoping for at least 35,000 or so guests chanting something or ruther cheorographed...heheee

Love the idea of sponsored art - makes it nice when an artist with ne means can put together their concept.
I own 5 acres of flat storage yard in Winnecucca, This is where we stage our response gear for Northern Nevada, and have tons of room and fresh water.
If anyone needs to store stuff or park for the night coming through on our site let me know its pretty secure, has 110/220/LPG, Sewer 1/2 acre of lawn, lots of trees (rare in nevada)
and has plenty of room to build. We are also 2000 feet fromk where Jungo/Sulphur road meets the asphalt in Winnemucca,

Darn. I guess I live in the wrong state! I want to get an old school bus, and convert it to a bio-diesel/waste veggie oil camper and, over time, maybe into an art car/party barge. One of my biggest hurdles is a place to do so-- I live in a second floor apartment in a building with a small parking lot...! (Money is another problem, but not nearly as much as space. I could always work on the thing in stages-- though to qualify for a motorhome registration, I would have to do a certain amount of conversion up front.)
