Yep, there are quite a few of us, but not sure if many are active on eplaya. There's an active NYC regional board where people post a LOT. You can receive each post or a digest. You can also choose only to receive announcements - weekly happy hours, fundraisers etc.

Here's a description of the NY regionals.

Decompression is October 17th at Floyd Bennet Field (out by JFK). They haven't updated the website for this year yet, but here's a
link to description last year. http://nycdecompression.org

Hi Artemis,

I'm hoping to get to the Decompression on Oct 17th but the site didn't answer all of my newbie questions -- and an email I sent to the contact on the site hasn't responded. Do you happen to know?

1.) I noticed this takes place in a hangar. Do I need to pack for autumn camping just the same? My experience in New York has been limited to the Catskills and Manhattan.

2.) Tickets are sold in Tiers. I have no idea what that implies! (For example, is Tier 4 somehow better than Tier 3, etc.?)

Planning on going to 2010, and some fellow Bostonians recommended I try to make it out there for the Decom. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this! :D

1) I don't think anyone camps here...event goes all night but I'm not aware of people camping out. I may be wrong though... Let's see if they mention it once they finish updating the website. Decom is held at Floyd Bennet Field, close to JFK airport. It's an old airport (where Amelia Earhart last left US) and activities will be held both indoors in hangars and outdoors on tarmac and field. It's probably going to be similar weather to Burning Man cold nighttime weather - 50s or so. Last year it was rainy early in the night, but cleared up later.

2) Tiers here are just like Burning Man, the lower tiers are better cuz they're cheaper. They're only about cost - has nothing to do with different access or anything like that. The quicker you are to buy tickets the cheaper you can get them. Tier 1 (cheapest) sold out super fast, Tier 2 is now gone.

It's going to be SUPER fun and will give you a taste of what Burning Man is like.

Thank you so much for the information!

I'll be there, quite possibly with bells on. ;D
