Burner Scholarships Available!

A part of the proceeds of the 2009 Southeastern Decompression was set
aside to provide burner scholarships to the various burns in the
southeast and to Burning Man.

A burner scholarship ticket is available for each of the following burns:
* PreHeat
* Transformus
* Burning Man
* Alchemy
* Afterburn

The scholarship award is a free ticket to the burn. Each scholarship
ticket is awarded separately and you may apply for one or more,
although each application must be sent in separately. You do not have
to be a veteran burner to apply.

If you're interested in applying for one of the burner scholarships,
then please send an email to [email protected] with the
following information:
* Your Name (both given name and any nicknames)
* Address
* Telephone
* The burn you're interested in attending

Also, please answer the following questions:
* What burns have you attended so far?
* How do you normally participate at burns?
* How have burns affected your life (or how you think they might
affect you)? What does it mean to you to burn?
* How do you incorporate any or all of the Burning Man ten
principles into your daily life?

If you are awarded a scholarship ticket to one of the burns, then we
ask you to record a daily journal, submit 5-10 photos, and participate
in the burn in some way you would not normally. We would also like a
short report about the burn, answering some of the following
questions:
* What was unique about the burn?
* How did you participate in a different way than normal?
* What interaction do you remember best (or was most meaningful to you)?
* What theme camp(s) did you enjoy the most?

We will aggregate all of the scholarship reports into a memoir and
make that publicly available.

The first burner scholarship is for Preheat, which is April 16-18th.
Scholarship requests for Preheat must be received no later than April
5th to be considered. We will notify the winner on April 6th.

For the other burns, please submit your scholarship requests no later
than June 1st. We will announce the awards no later than June 15th.
