Chicago 2010 Decompression

Post by robrob » Wed Sep 22, 2010 4:11 pm

reposted from local list:
Welcome back everyone!

Many of us are getting re-adjusted and reacquainted with the rhythms and routines of life in this great city of ours. The Playa rocked and rallied us, and now we're back where
we know we belong - right here in the Chicago-area.

And hark! Here at B.U.R.N., we've been hearing questions from the South side, the West side, the North side, and both the inner and outer suburbs:

"Hey, what's up with Decompression Chicago 2010?"

It's a fair question, and luckily your B.U.R.N. Events Committee has been researching large-scale, legal locations that will allow us have our kind of fun in the way we like to have it; that will fit within this community's budget, AND its ethics; and which will let us go late into the night.

Your friends at B.U.R.N. are pleased to announce that we've found such a date and location.

SAVE THE DATE: 11.6.10
This year's Decompression will occur on Saturday, November 6th, 2010. It will be an afternoon/evening/late night event.

To be clear, Decompression Chicago 2010 is NOT happening on the last weekend of September, as it has in several past years. We picked a new date to do it right!

THE LOCATION?
Your Bridgeport location for Decompression 2010 consists of over 15,000 square feet of clean and legal warehouse-styled event space. The exact address will be announced by the end of this coming week.

For some pictures of this incredible sight, follow this link

THEME
The theme for this year's Decompression is "Little Playa on the Prairie." We're thinking bonnets, hard cider, covered wagons and moonshine, and don't forget those top-hats fellas! After all, this is the Land of Lincoln.

I WANT TO HELP!
Great!

Downtown Dave from the Events Committee is giving tours of the location THIS SATURDAY - September 25th, 2010, at 12:00 noon. Email him for location details: If you can't make
the tour of the location, don't worry - there will be more Saturday afternoon site visits upcoming.

If you can't or don't wish to take the tour of our Decomp location, there is a meeting at a nearby coffee shop - the 35th Street Cafe at 1735 W. 35th St., afterward. Plan on meeting the group at 1:00 or 1:15 for coffee and brainstorming.

If you've got input, bring it!

Please stay tuned - there will also be calls for volunteers and artists to get involved coming shortly.

It's your Decompression! And as always, it will be exactly what you make it!

Can't wait to see everyone at Decompression 2010 (Little Playa on the Prairie), and that it's we don't see you sooner!
