The Fairfax Music Revival is a monthly gathering at
the Fairfax Pavilion. Come celebrate the 7th
installment of this monthly series as we bathe in the
delightful ethnic undertones of some amazing original
live music with an ethnic/electronic theme. We’re
pleased to present:

Govinda
(6 degrees / Buddha Bar)
www.govindamusic.com

Is the alter-ego of Austin, Texas born
producer/composer Shane O Madden. He began studying
the violin and composition at the age of eight and
went on to study at the University of Texas School of
Music. It was O Madden ’s pursuit of his gypsy roots
that opened his ears to the World music scene. During
his search, he found a particular affinity for the
Middle-Eastern, Indian, Celtic and Southern Spanish
musical cultures. Inspired by his passion for urban
psychedelia, he combines the diverse styles of music
with beats and sounds of modern electronic music.

Artemis
www.artemis.fm

Breathing a rich dose of soul into the cool digital
world, electronica artist Artemis cooks up seductive
sonic concoctions, deftly weaving poetry and pure
emotion into musical landscapes which are at once
futuristic and pulsing with earthy, organic life. With
her roots in classical and folk music, and training in
vocal traditions from several corners of the world,
Artemis puts the limitless horizons of electronic
music ’s spectrum to good use. Her style defies
category, ranging from sparse to richly symphonic,
combining elements of ambient, downtempo, triphop,
drum and bass, and breakbeats …and none of the above.
The singer songwriter casts her husky, silky alto over
smart beats and dark textures, to the effect of
ultimate atmosphere –sublimely understated use of
technology for maximum emotive effect. A seven-track
whirlwind tour of Artemis ’universe, her debut cd
“Undone ”has been turning heads and ears around the
world since its release in late 2001. The eagerly
anticipated follow-up full length offering is expected
to surface in early 2004.
