Trying to remember where on Garden Highway that is. Lived there for years. To bad they couldnt rope off the riverfront in Old Sac... That'd be AWESOME!
I guess the thing I have a problem with is what constitutes a "Costume"? But that might deserve its own thread...

Yggy, don't sweat the surcharge. Just come naked; I assure you the five bucks will be the least of their worries.

If I show up naked, especially that close to water, someone will call GreenpeaceR and try to "return me to the sea", just like Humphrey.......Dr. Pyro wrote:Yggy, don't sweat the surcharge. Just come naked; I assure you the five bucks will be the least of their worries.

Sorry, 1/2 of me agrees - my favorite "costume" this year was PJ's, but hey if you can substitute burner attitude for burner wear I think you have it made.
Re: Sacramento Valley Decom - Burn the River
Go or Don't Go, it's going to happen either way. Want to make a difference and make it better? get ahold of Pandora, Myself, or any of the other 20 people working to put this on, we'd love to have the help.
Parts of this event are going to be awesome, and some parts are likely to be less than ideal. There's a variety of details that aren't perfect, fuck, even the main event on the Playa isn't perfect, and we all love that anyway.
The idea here is to start something new and ongoing in the Sacramento Area. And when you start from ground zero, you have to make some compromises. This is an officially sanctioned "Decom" for what it's worth, so that's something, and it might be worth the extra $5.

Re: Sacramento Valley Decom - Burn the River
Actually, I think the surcharge should be double! There's nothing worse than people showing up at a theme party wearing their Coors t-shirts or coming just to spectate. Really brings the vibe down. You can do it, but it'll cost ya!
If you think you've overdone it, double it.
Re: Sacramento Valley Decom - Burn the River
I must say that I thought the Sac Decomp was great! It rained, rained, rained, which gave the event a heavy duty vibe with only true burners present. The big dance dome was dry enough and went on ALL night. I brought a carport, keg of beer, and propane heater which proved to be a very popular shelter from the rain with people huddled together talking and laughing. I met so many people. The arts and crafts camps were great with a lot of involvement and not too big of crowds. I really liked the stationary bicycle spinning paint contraption. Plenty of free stuff all around. It was like, "Please, take all you need." Very generous feeling all around. Rio Ramaza is THE place for a good camp. It is very private with no cops and no problems. I can easily see the Sacramento Decompression becoming a premier off playa event. It would make a good two day event.

Re: Sacramento Valley Decom - Burn the River
The "Burn The River" Decom was really fun!
Damp weather or no, a lot of fun-loving burners were out there in playa wear and dancing around the Rio Ramaza site.
Lots of people were camped there, so they wouldn't have to drive home when they were tired.
There was a hula hoop workshop, a giant Jenga blocks game, you-paint canvas set-ups (one on bike, one regular), and a a you-brand-it station with red-hot irons for marking leather goods. There was a photo booth/tent that let you take 4 different poses and produced a printed copy of you in your playa-wear finery as a gift.
The Karma Chicken Camp had Flaming Clucks served. We were also gifting plenty of pinot grigio and cabernet sauvignon wine, plus lots of pumpkin pie.
The smaller dome had demos and a nice funk band playing for a cool, intimate setting.
It was a good event!
Much fun was had.

Re: Sacramento Valley Decom - Burn the River
Just for the fun of it, I returned to Decomp site at Rio Ramaza for 3 days of carport camping. I camped way back in the trees. Carport camping is definitely the way to go when camping during the wintertime.
Where it all went down:
The carport all set up:

Our camp is set up way back there out of view:

View from the carport:

I'd really like to see the next Sacramento regional held here again as a multi day event.
