Looking for Burners in my area

I am at a turning point in my life. I just graduated high school and one of my goals this summer is to do some soul searching. I've always been a goofy and outgoing guy, the burner culture is so interesting and definitely right up my alley! I was wondering if there were any burners in the "thumb" region of Michigan. Reading stuff online isn't enough. I'm seriously considering going to Burning Man but I want to make connections on the way. Any connections in Michigan?

The way you phrased it I'm not sure if you knew, but Burning Man tickets sold out virtually instantly, so if you want to go, your big project will be obtaining a ticket.

Maybe I'll just go to the regional burn and spend the next year getting into it and learning so I'll be more prepared.
