People have really come out with their best on this one! I have never seen so much vibrant creative energy pouring out from all directions. We have some of the best and brightest of the Playa coming out to display their festive structures and keep you interactive, well fed, and well…um…hydrated! Check out the list of everyone you can expect to see at this event, with such Playa favorites as the Farenheit 451 bar, The Purple Turtle Chill Zone, the Satreheedn, and the always and ever popular XARA! Plus see some new ones, built to captivate, that are new to this event!
See the page at http://www.fuegodiego.com/events/camps.php . Make sure you click on the links and see the great pages these groups have set up!
EXPERIENCE THE MYSTIC ART GROVE
Like a gallery with few boundaries and even fewer walls! Come hang out amongst durable crafts and their creators by day, and make your mark on the art world with interactive canvas and sculpture. By night, warm the body and chill the mind among the famous ambient soundscapes of Bill Watson, while experiencing rarified sights courtesy of Tim Brown as he blends live imagery at the Grove Theater!

WORKSHOPS GALORE!
One of the things that has made our Decompression famous is its wonderful workshops. You can’t help but be pulled into some of these events! Find out about yourself! Grow! Be interactive! Be creative! Make art!!!
See the list of workshops, with times and details, on our "What/where/when" page at http://www.fuegodiego.com/events/whatwherewhen.php
FIRE AT THE EVENT
We will have several open areas with site approved burn barrels under close supervision. These will be the only areas that open flame is permitted as this is an extremely fire sensitive area. There will be other areas that are nicely heated with propane heaters to keep them warm and comfortable. Small propane heaters are permitted, but for your personal safety, don't enclose them in your tent or other non-ventilated area. This can cause suffocation!
There will be fire performances for a short time on Friday and Saturday evenings in one specified location. Any other fire performances will not be permitted any other location or time than what is established. We will have lots of fire safety on hand during this time. If you are interested in being a part of the fire performance, please e-mail [email protected].
POLICIES ON VIDEO CAMERAS
If you plan on using a video or motion recording camera at our event, you will be asked to sign a contract and tag your camera. This contract, exactly like the one at Burning Man, states that you will not use your footage, without pre-approval, for any other purpose than personal and private use. Please make sure one of our wonderful Greeters assists you with the tagging and contract process upon entering at the gate. This is for our own protection and privacy!
THERE'S COLD IN DEM HILLS!
This weekend, expect beautiful, partly cloudy days. We were up at the site this Sunday until 7 pm with t-shirts on. BUT YES, there’s no denying it: it will be COLD at night. Please remember to bring jackets, blankets, and other implements, devices, and people to keep you warm through these fall evenings. Bring extras for your new friends! We will provide you with many places to take shelter, cuddle with your loving community members, and enjoy your nighttime experience. There will be several Burn barrel equipped open areas and several propane heated semi-enclosed areas that will keep you comfortable throughout your stay. Plus, you’ll have ample opportunity to get your groove on in our dancing areas and get that blood pumping!
POLICIES ON MINORS: WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IF YOU'RE BRINGING THEM OUT.
We are having an all ages event, but there are several guidelines we would like to live by in order to make this happen and have it be happy for everybody. If you are bringing a minor to the event, you will be responsible for them at all times. Likewise minors will not be allowed into the event without a responsible adult escorting them. There will be open bars, nudity, people with pink hair, men with dresses, smelly arm pits, and genitalia styled artwork in many of these areas. What do you expect, it’s a slice of the Playa!
Wristband Policy: Greeters will be giving out two different kinds of wristbands at the gate to identify who should and shouldn’t be taking part in those wonderful intoxicating drinks that our bars will be handing out. Please be prepared to show your ID at the gate in order to get the proper wristband. It’s okay, it’s a one-time shot! This keeps you from carrying anything around in the pockets you don’t have!
LOCATION INFO, CAMPING POLICIES AND THINGS TO THINK ABOUT
There are many great places to camp at the Fuego de los Muertos site: Outdoor World Retreat. Please see http://www.fuegodiego.com/events/location.php for directions, location info, and an event site map. As we have had a couple of storms, the ground may be wet this weekend. Bring a tarp to lay your tent on and keep your stuff dry. You are able to park next to your camping spot, but if you choose to walk into a more secluded location, we have a large parking area available to you. There are also some pretty sandy areas that your car will get stuck in easily. There are on-site services to get you out, but try not to park or stop in these sandy spots. Please, no open fires in the camping area as it is a fire sensitive zone. It may be wet but it’s not worth taking chances! Bring lots of blankets or migrate to one of the warming areas to keep comfortable.
There are some areas that have red ants to look out for. It’s getting a little cold up there for them and we are seeing less and less of them, but they are still around. Take a look where you are sitting and where you are camping. If you throw your tent on top of an ant hill, you may have some difficulties sleeping at night.
BE RESPECTFUL OF OUR BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT
Just like at Burning Man, this is a Leave No Trace Event! Pack it in, pack it out, and take it home. This site is a beautiful oak grove and we think it should be cleaner than when we found it. Once you see it, you’ll feel the same way. There are wonderful hiking trails, climbing rocks, and many ways you can spend time in this area outside of our event, but please pick up after yourself and each other. There is no "Clean-up Crew" that goes through after we are gone to clean up after us. There will be, however, several disgruntled, tired volunteer event organizers picking up garbage that people carelessly cast to the ground. Before you leave, please bag your trash, scan your site for any other trash, and take it home to your garbage can, not a nearby neighbor’s! We are the most responsible, respectful group of people on the face of this planet, lets do it like we do it on the Playa.
THEME CAMP AND VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION CLOSED
Yes, it’s that time. We love all of the beautiful, gracious things that you’d like to offer us. But we just can’t handle the admin work in this last week. It’s time for us to dig in our heels and push this event to the starting line on Friday. If you have already contacted us about volunteering and theme camps, please keep in touch and make sure we have all of your info and you have bought your volunteer ticket. Volunteer tickets will not be sold at the gate, so make sure you get it on time. If you would still like to bring out a theme camp, it is first come first serve in the camping areas. Camping areas will happily be pointed out by one of our beautiful Greeters.
VENDING AND GIFTING
We will have one vending booth at this event. The owners of the site where this Decompression is held will have a small booth from which to sell food and refreshments. No other vending is permitted at this event. Experience in the joy of gifting instead! If you think somebody needs something, gift it to them. They'll love you for it!
Thank you all, this will be a fantastic event!!!
Warmly,
The Fuego de los Muertos Organization Committee
San Diego - Orange County Decompression
