TAZ for burning men Vancouver BC Feb 24-27

Pacific Northwesters will remember the EmoDome at Critical Mass. Those in BC will remember the EmoMen and dome at BITF, Rekompoz or Shine in the Forest. Some of you might have visited EmoCamp at Burning Man in 2003. Some know our connection to Orange Camp and JPC at Burning Man last year. For the past 3 years, we've held a retreat for Burning Men as counterpoint to the great connections BC women have through BurninBabes and the Naughty Cowgirls. EmoTAZ is a burning-man inspired community to explore connections between men of all sexual orientations. We build friendship and support other intentional communities. Some burners join us from Seattle and San Francisco, so here's a bit of info for those who might be interested:

Intention
The intention this year is Challenge.

Workshops
These workshops are available for signup: Low Ropes, High Ropes Challenge and Rock Wall Climbing by site facilitators; Personal Rituals; Moving Meditations based on five rhythms; Kundalini Sadhana in the early morning; Intimacy Boundary Discovery; Massage and Life Casting.

Activities
Some will go hiking, others canoeing, while some relax in the chill space and others in the hot tub. As we have for 3 years, we will end the weekend with ritual bodypainting.

Music
On Thursday night, we will make our own music. Bring your drums and guitars. On Friday and Saturday, DJ Maer, a burner from Dub Beautiful and OEM Radio in San Francisco will provide the musical foundation for our experience.

Volunteer cooperative
Burner style, everyone participates in planning, setup, project creation, breakfast prep and general cleanup. Like a theme camp with common expenses, EmoTAZ contributions are channeled to cover accommodation, meals, supplies and sound system. The organizers also contribute their share of funds.

Cost share
Cost share is CAD$275. This event is for a maximum of 40. We designate funds to sponsor those who want to participate but can't afford the full cost share.

Thoughts

There are many forms of intimacy, and creating music together can be one. Sport, where men play instead of watch, is another. Massage is another. We question competition but play with it. We also play with team building and touch. The ideas come from those who attend.

It's true that emoTAZ takes place in the winter in Canada, at an indoor wilderness center owned by an educational institution, so there are restrictions on what we can do outside, but our spaces are another matter.

It's really important to continue to build this idea with men who have been to the desert, because they're usually a few steps ahead in expressing themselves. That's why I posted to this list. The group very occasionally rejects guys who seem to carry a load of issues. It's more like a selective theme camp than any-frat-will-do. Not all who go to 'TAZ are burners, but not surprising, most who weren't, have now gone or plan to go. We're spreading an idea from the desert.
