Moving to Portland, Oregan from Indianapolis

Post by Offender » Wed Jan 12, 2005 1:14 pm

A friend and myself have jointly decided Indiana is not the place we should be living. We looked around and decided Portland would be a good place to look at. The move isn't concrete yet as we still need to go out and actually visit to look for jobs, submit resumes, and view housing. I was wondering if anyone in the area would mind meeting up with us to give us some pointers and info about what the different areas, activities, and whatnot. Any advice is greatly appriciated, we're excited about comming out to see it in person. Contact info is in profile if you'd like to send me a line. Thanks!

Alex

I am more than happy to play host for a few days. Let me know the dates you will come visit and I will give you my contact as it gets closer.

Well not being the only one makes me feel better. As far as when we'd be visiting I'd like to visit some time around the end of February/beginning of March. If we make the final decision to move I'm hoping to be there and working around April or March. I'll look at plane fair and let you know Jason, thanks in advance!

Is this a dj moving to the Portland area? If so then I will easily be able to help show you around town.

We just moved from Portland last month so we could buy some land.

Really nice weather we have here in Reno - shit.

Lots of Burners living in Hawthorne District - A little overpriced but great bars to hang out at. Portland is a great place to live. Great people and lots to do (after you get used to the rain it doesnt stop you)

Be sure to get in touch. I am one of those dj/producer/bastard type people. There are a lot of intricacies in the network of spinning in Portland it is kind of weird. I will say in all honesty do not expect to find a good paying dj job. The clubs here average between 100 and 450 a night on the weekends. The weekdays are thin. I will tell you more when you get out this way though.

Stuff:

Portland Cacophony
There is a Portland Burning Man announce listyou should get on.
There are other groups, but once you go to a couple of the Burner parties, fire-spinning events, or Caco stuff- you'll find at least a couple niches that suit you.

Very good advice. I have met a lot of people that has gotten me into all kinds of trouble through both of those lists.

Oh honey, you're not wearing that to go hunting are you? Orange just does NOT go well with camoflague.

Oh you're just too cute to trample anyway, you big burly hunter you...

Hey, why are you running away?

Beware the infamous Canadian pamplemousse. His name is Rose.

I think you got that worng. It is the Seattle people you need to beware of. I was a good mormon choir boy until I went to Seattle for Decom. They feed me strange alcohols and forced me to dance, it was torturous(sp?). They proceeded to beat me with stuffed animals when I tried to rest my legs. Sam and I were defenseless. I was then led in the morning to a place that clogged my arteries just looking at it. I was fed an amazing breakfast that stopped my heart a few times but I persevered. And then there is Sensei who gave me so many gifts I swear I hurt my back carrying them. He offered to fix it but I was not having it. I was done with the Seattle pain. And when I went back up and invited them all to my show they tried to corrupt me more. They applauded my music as the devil took my fingers over and played so many evil notes. Then they proceeded to drag me to a bar where we toasted a birthday and I was literally forrced to drink. I told them as I ordered the drinks that I couldn't drink yet they persisted as I told them they had better finish the drink.

Damn those Seattle people

Jason

PS when we all hanging out again I am missing ya all lately.
