Any YCC peeps?
Just throwin this out there to see if there are any burners who were in the YCC back in it's heyday (late 70's).
Life changing experience for most of us.

I was unaware that Yuba City College had much of a following.

Doc, That was my thought too. It turns out it's something completely not that.
YCC= Youth Conservation Corps (modeled after the CCC). A Summertime program of building forest infrastructure and trail work.

Yes, I was in the YCC back in the summer of 1978. Worked out of Ukiah, California. Spent most of the summer working east of Willets making a hiking trail for a local park.

Yes, I was in YCC at Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge in Southern Illinois. Incredible experience.

Re: Any YCC peeps?
Still like the idea of an on-playa meetup for YCC folks from the early days.
If we consider "life-changing events" , YCC is surely one that qualifies for many (including myself).
There are some FB pages where people reconnect.

I was in the YACC Forest Service version in 1979 through 81 or 82. Yeah, I’m old. Was 18 then. I worked in the Cleveland National Forest, Camp Ole on Mt Laguna. I also spent a year on San Clemente Island.
I really enjoyed that job. Doing fuel mod in the summer sucked but in the end I really missed it.
I wish I could get back out to San Clemente Island. I still spend office days on Mt. Laguna off of Thing Valley road.

Too bad we can’t do it this year. That would have been fun.daisymaybee wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 3:22 pmStill like the idea of an on-playa meetup for YCC folks from the early days.
