Beginning in Los Angeles with an appearance on April 17th, 10:00pm at Laemmle's Fairfax 3 Theater, and then a State Playhouse Theater performance, April 18th at 6pm.

The Church of Stop Shopping, featuring Reverend Billy and the Stop Big Boxes Gospel Choir, will sing and preach from LA to Humboldt County, April 17 to 24th, performing for citizens, activist groups and union locals resisting the predatory influx of transnational chain stores.
Reverend Billy and the Choir will kick off the tour with an appearance at a Los Angeles screening of the documentary "Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping" (Playloud! Productions). The audience has the opportunity for Q&A about adventures in crucifying Mickey Mouse while saving New York City public landmarks. Then, on Sunday April 18th at 6pm, Reverend Billy and the Choir will create a "Strange Worship" at the State Playhouse theater where they will exorcise credit cards and preach the Stop Shopping Gospel.

In its seven year existence, the OBIE-winning Church of Stop Shopping has fought Starbucks, Disney, Wal-Mart (to name a few) while promoting independent businesses and gift, thrift and barter economies; encouraging the survival of our neighborhoods and giving a voice to countless sweatshop workers worldwide.
