Water fillup going thru Cedarville

Post by dragonpilot » Tue Sep 17, 2013 7:01 pm

I stopped at the John=O Ranch just 3 miles south of Cedarville just off the main road 1/4 mile or so. It was 4 PM, Sunday Aug 25 and I was the only one there at the time. There were two self-tended hoses. The water was pure sweet well water, filled up my 36 gallon tank in no time. I left a donation and was on my way. The scene back in Cedarville was the usual zoo.

Hope I'm not ruining a good thing by mentioning this...but get your gas and other goodies in Cedarville, then get your water here.

I can't tell from your wording . . . were they billing themselves as a fill-up spot?

I found out about them here: http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... 76&t=65869

First time I've used them. The water hoses are about 40-50 yards down their driveway...and there's a nice big turn-around just past the ranch house.

Wonderful! :) I just wanted to make sure we weren't impinging upon them. Cedarville's so little! But always so friendly.

I must say, their corner BBQ place was literally a lifesaving break after a 6 hour exodus + the first 3 hours of the 16 hour drive (with three hours more to go before any motels with vacancies appeared). Thanks to the fortifiying burger, chili, potato salad & soda--and some fun Burner conversation--we had the energy to keep going until Klamath Falls . . . where I'm pretty sure we found the last vacancy in town, after about 25 tries. :?

Well, that just makes me seem a whole lot luckier for finding the last (?) hotel room in Reno on Sunday the 25th.

I needed to get off the road and eat (on the way to BM) in Cedarville.. I stopped in the little corer store.. The clerk told me the county fair was on down the street.. Figured I'd find eats there.. Payed three bucks to enter.. At that hour the fair was feeding seniors.. I had a good meal and some good country music.. Spent three great hours relaxing and looking at the different booths.. Sampled some prize winning cake with ice cream..

I stopped at the corner store, but opted to buy the BBQ steak, baked bean, and bread platter right out front...then hit the ice cream shop across the street...Cedarville rocks!

The little ice cream shack on the east side of Bonner Street is really good (ice cream sandwiches with fresh baked cookies)!

I'll try to check out the O Ranch this year for my 55 gallon water tank, thanks!

If you'd seen how small Cedarville is, or are about to, you will understand. For musts, I depend on Klamath Falls and Alturas (I fill up on gas there). For accidental deficits and BBQ, I love Cedarville . . . And they're great for your first fill-up on your way back North.

I would try Yelp and make some phone calls and find out store hours if I were really going to let anything wait until Cedarville. I actually don't blame Captain Godammit for his reticence. He doesn't want to ruin a good thing.

I kid, I kid. ;)

My first trip through Cedarville was back in 2001, things have continuously changed for the better over the years.

Last year on Saturday, Cedarville was having the county fair.. I stopped by just in time for the senior dinner.. Sat down and was served a nice meal.. i plan to stop this year too.. If you come back on Monday. The fire dept. has a pancake feed as a fundraiser..

I came through one year the gas station was closed.. The pumps were on.. You could get gas with a card..
I'm the contraptioneer your mother warned you about.

There's a few stations and yes gas is available 24 hours.

There's two gas stations in Cedarville. One just at the bottom of the grade coming in from Alturas, the other right in the middle of "town." The John=O Ranch for artesian well water is about 3 miles south off the main highway. Google "john=o ranch eplaya" for details.
