Anyone have the best suggestions for transporting water? Also what if I run out of water somehow?
I usually eat mostly veggies, fruit, nuts, granola bars, etc, any ideas on keeping them fresh during transportation and also during the event?

Hi SarahAnn. How are you getting to the Burn? If you are renting a car bring the water with you. Traveling on Burner Express (bus) https://burnerexpress.burningman.org/bu ... formation/ ? Bring collapseable water cans and take advantage of their water add on and pick up on playa. If you run out of water you can buy ice and drink the melt. Just be sure to keep your ice in a cooler seperate from your veggies.SarahAnn_Love wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2019 8:02 pmAnyone have the best suggestions for transporting water? Bring a cooler for your fruits and veggies. Put ice in the cooler wherever you leave from and buy ice on playa as needed.

1. In one of your posts you ask, how far the city was from the airport?
If you are flying in via Burner Express Air, they offer you the opportunity to pre-purchase water in 2-1/2 gal. boxes and pick-up your water at the airport.
2. Transportation to the city from the airport? There is a bus stop located about 100 yds. from where you arrive at the airport. Bus service runs between 1/2 - 1 hr. intervals.

There has been a produce Outside Services provider on that list. There have been fresh produce camps found in the camp list. Most people DIY water. At 2.5 gallons a day, I have never run out, and usually have extra at the end, even with daily about .6 gallon showers. I have short hair. So if someone were washing long hair, they might require more. Washing dishes and cooking with water requires more.

Re: Water and Fresh Fruit
Fresh Fruit does best on the playa in a dry cooler in the shade off of the ground. Unless your cooler organizing is on point, I’ve found that keeping fresh fruit in the same cooler as ice and refrigerator things has a high mess potential. Veggies should always be on top of the ice in your cold cooler.

Prefreeze liter bottles of water (crack the tops so they don't explode), use them in your cooler to keep your fresh food cold. Drink as they melt. We actually have a 2 cooler system, where one cooler is full of dry ice. As water bottles thaw, we rotate them back into the dry ice cooler to reuse as ice packs in the fresh food cooler. The dry ice cooler takes a little extra care - store it up on something, not directly on the playa, wrap a bungee or ratchet strap around it and snug it down to keep the light on tight, put in the shade and cover with a blanket.
