Tea at burning man.

Post by Galax » Wed Aug 15, 2007 7:54 am

I love to drink tea, and I'm sure there will be times when I can use a little energy boost, but I'm concerned about whether it would be a hassle in terms of trash. I thought about bringing instant coffee, but I really dislike the taste of coffee. My idea is to bring a mesh bag to put the used teabags/tealeaves in and weight it down out in the sun so that they will dry out. I figured then the tea waste would be a fairly small, lightweight, and non-rotting addition to the trash bags, but I would like to check and see whether anybody has dealt with tea on the playa before. In your opinion, is it worth it?

Bring it. Unless you've found a way to avoid all trash, the tea won't add to your burden.

Teabags are easiest, although loose tea leaves can be handled if you're MOOP mindful. Sounds like you have a plan.

I'm going to hunt up our countertop composter for our coffee grounds, I know we have one somewhere.

I just picked up a Samovar which is part of my camp gig, *if* I can find a Spigot Key (the innie part of the valve) that fits (or make one) and a chimney extension and cap (It's a charcoal one, not an electric) I plan on doing tea. Real tea.

Otherwise, it may end up holding, um, other liquids. heh heh heh...

ANyone know someone who works on Samovars on the left coast, preferably the Bay Area??

CONSUMER ALERT
The freestyle consumption of tea is NOT approved by the CenterStar CampBucks Conglomerate. You do so at your own risk, you freakin' pinko hippie.
Hell in a handbasket, I'm tellin' ya. Hell in a handbasket.

No plants or plant materials are allowed in BRC this year, excluding the bark on the clear cut, commercially forested old growth trees that were massacred to support the base of the man. That means leave your tea at home otherwise the cruel barbarians at the gate will confiscate it.

Yep, zero tolerance, you caffeine junkie. No tea.

Oh no! Whatever shall I do with my dried tomatoes? And my frozen gazpacho? And my juice? And my rice milk? And my wicker basket? And my cotton clothing? And my journal? Oh dear! I suppose I'll just have to leave all of it at home and rely entirely on animal products and petrochemicals!
