food...
what kind of food do you usualy bring. and what would be the best food to have?
This is a frequently discussed topic, and I'm surprised nothing turned up in your search. Like this thread, for example:

I'm creating my grocery list as we speak, it's so far, I may add or take away.
Box of tea / Container for said suntea/hot tea
Dried fruits/Trail mix
Rajma Curry?
Few bags top ramen
Malt-o meal
Wheat Grass Juice
Starbucks-single serve coffees
Sunflower seeds (bag of already peeled shells)
Bottle of multi-vitamins
Frozen juice bottles(water bottles of juice)
Frozen water bottles
Can of fruit cocktail
String Cheese
Mandarin oranges(canned)
Canned soups
Wasabi Almonds
Chocolate Chip cookies
Brownies
Cold pasta salad
*Reflective heat shiels (windshield heat shields) 2 or 3
Honey/Granola Bars
2 pouches flavored tuna
Salt/pepper/Garlic powder/Curry/Peprika
Butter / Honey / Sugar / Cinnamon
Few pieces of bread/bagels
Peanut butter/Jelly
Small packets of powdered drink mix to go into water bottles
Few bottles of tomato juice/clamato
One bag beef jerkey
Frozen lemon juice cubes
Jar of martini Olives
Jar of pickles
5-6 bottles of merlot
5-6 bottles of vodka
Beer?
I know it seems alot, but I'm staying with a theme camp, and also plan to gift quite a bit to bars I visit to share the load. I'll probably edit this list several times.
I'm also vegetarian, so your list may look different from mine.

A shit ton of spaghetti & sauce (have it atleast every other day, if not everyday)--very filling, easy to make & gives you a rush of much needed calories. Ramen is a good snack/lunch, and a medley of chips, crackers, & granola bars

YES! EZ-Cheese is one of nature's perfect foods! And it's super burner-friendly; it comes in a dust-proof container that needs no refrigeration.Shambala wrote:Spray cheese in the can and Ritz crackers.
Canned ravioli, tuna cups, Red Bull & vodka.
I ALWAYS bring canned ravioli and tuna cups and booze of all sorts.
For fresh fruit that won't spoil on the playa, I can't say enough about Crunch Berries. Burning Man with no Capn' Crunch is no Burning Man at all.

trader bozo's has a bunch of precooked stuff near the canned beans in light packaging, reasonably priced.. rice type stuff.. i pretty much survived on it last year. oh, and near that, they have cartons of butternut squash soup.. gimme some of that.
edit: also, some very cheep beer, too.. simpler times, red oval, a few 6-pint-packs.. decent stuff for great prices.

meh,
i eat a big breakfast of mainly eggs and protein.
small lunch that's more of a snack then anything.
by dinner time (after the sun goes down) im starving and ready to eat for 4.
breakfast = eggs sausage/bacon
lunch = tuna, probl out of the can
dinner = pasta, par boil the noodles at home.
chances are im going to be running around for atleast another 6 hours after dinner, which is why i eat a big breakfast in the morning... because it's been 14 hours since ive eaten. but I'm just not hungry durring the day, and when food is offered, i just pick at it mostly.

Jerky!
Cheez-its!
Canned fruit
Canned chili
Doritos
cup-o-noodles
Guinness Extra Stout (It's a meal!)
That's pretty much my grocery list for this year. I'll be eating most meals at the commissary and have been promised a few "home-cooked" meals by a couple camps, so whatever I bring is mostly for snacking.
edited for unnecessary capitalization.

I go to costco and buy about $200 bucks of whatever I think will work by going isle by isle. I bring all of it. I eat about 1/4 of it and 1/4 of it goes bad through neglect(bread getting wet in cooler) or spoilage. The other 1/2 of it comes back here and I live off of it in increments through out the year. It is really nice to pull a dusty can of soup out of the pantry. My pasta supply is freaking phenomenal after 6 years of burning.
I'm going to bring more expensive beef jerky and put bread in water proof zip lock bags because apparently the bags that bread comes in are breathable and not waterproof.

I agree, if I wake up for breakfast (before its too hot to sleep), then I have a huge breakfast. I found that during the high heat of the day, noonish to 4ish eating was not desirable.epic_elite wrote:meh,

I found that one of the easiest ways to make good meals was to precook whatever, and put it in one of those heat sealer bags. Then all you have to do is boil water, and drop the bags in. I've never seen one melt in the water. We had pot roast with carrots, onions, and potatoes. Sloppy Joe mixed with mac and cheese (protein and carbs). Its easy, quick, one pot, meals. The water used to boil the bags was then used to do the dishes.
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole
