Ok that's fine for water...but what should one estimate for beer?

Beer requirements can be estimated by this handy formula:

B = Beers needed
D = days on the playa
P = average pints you have at the bar on a saturday night.
W = Weasely neighbors and campmates who will come underbeered.

B = ((DP+4) + 10(W)) + 6D

for example, if you're camping with 3 others, drink an average of 6 beers on a saturday night, and are going to be on the playa for 7 days:

B= ((7*6) + 4) + (10*3) +(6*7)
B= 46 + 30 + 42
B= 118

(DP+4) is days*avg pints + 4 because you can always use a few extras.
10(W) is taking into account the rats who will cajole, steal, 'barter', or anything else to try to get a free beer from ya
6D because you'll be so happy you brought an extra secret six-pack per day
