Where can we rent / buy clean and gray water containers?

My camp (Brulee) is in need of large containers for drinking water and gray water. Say 200 gallons our more each. We intend to use for our bar and camp infrastructure.

Where can I buy or rent?

In most towns the greywater ones are a used industrial item on Craigslist, sometimes clean ones too. There is a vibrant reuse industry for drums and tanks! An ideal form is a palletized liquid containers. Poly drums are often available once through at food manufacturers.

Try Twin City Surplus in Reno. They have carried the 55 gal. barrels and other sizes as well. Have been very burner friendly for many years.

Save Mart grocery stores have carried them as well.

A couple of thoughts here:

1. There are several companies (like United Site Service) that deliver these to the Playa but from what I hear it is about $1/gallon, both for fresh in and grey out.
2. You will never has as much grey water as fresh water, since you use some for drinking and some evaporates.
3. You could purchase those square 2.5 gallon water jugs in bulk. It does result in a bunch of plastic to recycle but water becomes very heavy after about 5 gallons anyway. A 55-gallon drum weighs 440 pounds when full.
4. If you are willing to look at this as a cost, you could buy 40 5-gallon containers of water and a few 5-gallon empties for grey water, then as you empty the fresh you can reuse the container for grey. However I doubt you will every want to use those containers for fresh again even after a good washing, so consider the cost.

Large camps may contract at least a month in advance with United Site Services for removal of gray water in multi-hundred-gallon containers. Contact United Site Services at 1-775-826-5646, in Reno. USS does not deliver fresh water. For delivery of fresh water in volume, contact Meco in Reno at 775-475-2602.

Have USS empty your RV tanks on-playa. You can flag down a USS truck, one that isn't busy servicing potties, and ask them to send a pumper to your RV location. It'll cost you $60 or more.

My friend got a used drum from a bottling company for pretty cheap. Might check around for that. It does have a slight taste because of the syrup used, but I really didn't notice it.
