Buying potable water driving in from Salt Lake City

Postby MavieB » Sat Aug 20, 2016 9:57 am

We are renting an RV in Salt Lake City and are wondering where to best buy potable water before Gerlach. We'd be grateful for any tips!

Don't drive all the way from Salt Lake with full water. You won't be happy on the hills between Salt Lake and Fernley. Nor on the extra gas costs for carrying the needless weight.

I really appreciated doing the hills from Fernley to Gerlach without having a full water tank, filling up with water in Gerlach purchased from the town. Shorter stopping distance too, and saves gas costs.

Follow the link in that thread to see listed water sources.
Also see ... iving/rvs/, but you should have read all of the preparation survival guide type info by now.

Try google search of to find other sources.
(the "support our local towns" isn't showing Fernley and the Reno link is dead...???)
Video games are giving kids unrealistic expectations on how many swords they can carry.
... but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.
