Camping cooking equipment rental in Reno?

Post by carefactornil » Thu Jun 08, 2017 8:42 am

Hi,

Long-time burner here but 1st time to BRC this year without an RV.

From overseas so looking to source some basic camping equipment to rent, cooker & gas at a minimum but if they do a package with pots, plates, etc, great. Really want to avoid buying and then having to work out where it goes after.

Anyone got any pointers to a good place in Reno used to burners?

I did a Google but didn't come up with any winners.

Cheers

I think things that go to the playa generally are only used again on the playa, so you won't find many that want to send camping gear out there. That being said - maybe playa pads has something? might be overkill for your needs, but they do have a basic set up.

I believe what you are looking for is called a “Commodification Camp”. There are many to choose from. You pay them money, and in return, they take care of all your Radical self-Reliance needs. You can go simple, with a camp that provides a basic kitchen for your use, or ultra deluxe, with any of the for-profit EDM camps like white Ocean or robot heart. Besides paying them to care for your needs, you may or may not also have to be hot enough to get on their art car. Hope this helps.

Don't think you will find anything like that.

Your best bet is to buy the cheapest bare essentials at Walmart in the camping section and junk it after.

What kind of cooking are you looking to do? Basic boiling of water to warm things up or gourmet kitchen?

Not quite sure why this thread has resurrected but this was for 2017.

What actually happened is some of the wonderful US burners who were part of my art crew donated a couple of stoves and basics to us. And we in turn donated those on the way out to the collection for the hurricane victims.

So we didn't really find a solution that would work for most there.

It's one of the many challenges in coming to BM from overseas...

Ha! Likely a spam bot posted to this thread and a mod deleted the spam.

Still brought it to the top of discussion.

Good to hear you found a solution.
