Water Proven Unnecessary at Burning Man
One of our campmates set out to prove he could survive burning man + 3 days early entry and 2 days breakdown WITHOUT WATER.
He bought and brought NO WATER to the playa.
Instead, he consumed only Heineken (Tecate when supplies were low), soda and Gatorade.
Gross? Definitely. Admirable? Maybe.
He did, however, use a splash of someone else's water to wet his toothbrush, to shower, and to prepare his 2min noodles.
I'm not sure why he did this besides to piss off the diabetes gods, but it was nevertheless impressive.
He survived and showed no signs of weakness the entire week. I'm pretty sure, but have not verified that he also did not sleep or pee the entire week.
When questioned why he was doing this, he responded only, "Water is for pussies and peeing is for girls," and then punted any water bottles within sight.

When I was a lot younger and more indestructible there was a lot more of a general "thing" about everyone carrying water bottles at all times.
Mine always actually had vodka in it.

My body just doesn't need as much water as the average human I guess. I maybe drink a gallon a day out there, plus a few beers and a Mt Dew or two. I brought back five gallons of water this year and I brought out less than last year.

2nd time better than the first. And the first was pretty Freakin' Great!

My Dad went through the Korean war brushing his teeth with Bud. Said that was the only thing the crap Bud they got there was good for.

Though mildly plausible, this sounds like Playa Chicken.
The no pissing part is a dead giveaway, pun intended.

Yup.
Not pissing for that many days: not credible. Ask a medical person about kidneys.
Not sleeping for that many days: not credible. Sleeping lightly a lot of the time, thinking he's not sleeping, that's possible.

We brought 2x 55 gallon drums of water for 7 people to drink, cook, dish washing and shower. Half our camp was freaking out that we didn't bring enough while 3 of us kept telling them not to worry. arrived on playa Sunday and watched the sun rise while setting up can and Broke down to leave just before the temple burn. We didn't crack open the second barrel of water till the the day we planned to break down camp and drove home with about 51 gallons.
Not everyone needs that much water but it's smart to have extra

I actually try to drink as little plain water as I can, but sometimes it's nice to not have any flavor in my drinks.

I consumed all the water I used, about a gallon + a day .. Am planning more water per day for bath .. Spraying "settled" gray water on the ground .. i.e. Place one gallon + gray water in a bucket that has a faucet, a few inches above it's bottom .. Allow particles to settle 24 hour.. Drain particle free water from the faucet .. Spraying this water for dust control.. Or , use the water plus an oz. of bleach for a footbath.. Take end results off playa for disposal ..
I'm the contraptioneer your mother warned you about.
